Default Multi engine

Hi everyone

I have just joined this forum after purchasing a new 16sz system, as I want to have a go at a twin engine DC3 in the future. I have flown RC models since I was a teenager, but have been trying to learn helicopters, badly for many years. Now moving back to planes and hence the new radio set. I had to change from mode 1 to mode 2 when I started on heli's and do not intend to convert back

I am trying to set up a multi engine mode on a the 16sz so that I can start each engine separately whilst a running engine is held at tick over. The engines are set to channel 3 (left) and channel 9 (right). I have made switch G the controller so that the middle should enable both engines to run normally and by pushing it backwards should only allow control of the left engine and fully forwards the right engine, how do I allocate the channels to the switch please.

Any help would be appreciated.

Clive

I am doing the same thing. Came here for advice on doing so. Have you found any help? My search has just began

if the 16 sz follows form/function with the 18 sz, you can assign channels in the function menu. the radio may already have a throttle 2 function available that you can assign to ch 9
you can do switch position assignments in the afr menus and in the p-mix menu
probably need to build a set of p-mixs to do the center both, left back, right forward.

about all i can help with, having to go by memory, as i am working remotely(as in a long way away from home and the radio to look at).

There is not one solution to this - which is the right one depends on many things... like maybe the need to "save" on mixes...

I use the T18SZ and always have at least following conditions: Off, Taxi and Flight. Starting engines is done while in taxi; from here I can select the Startup condition). The reason is I don't want a switch that would put one engine on idle while airborne - in flight mode that switch does nothing (or maybe something else).

A solution could be:

In Linkage menu -> Function have J3 control both your throttle channels. Assign trim to both throttle channels if you want to be able to adjust idle of each engine. Exit menu.

In Model menu -> Condition select create the conditions you want and assign a switch. I assume you have at least Taxi and Flight. Exit menu

Select Taxi condition and enter Model menu -> Dual Rate. Assign D/R for throttle1 to switch SC rear position. Do the same for throttle2 but with switch in the opposite position.Exit menu.

With Taxi selected and switch SC in rear position, enter Model menu -> AFR. Select Throttle1 and go to page 2. Set rates to 0 and offset to -100 (or -95 if you want high idle on the running engine while starting the other). The the same with SC in forward position for throttle2

That's it - you have a switch (SC) that separates the selected throttle from J3 while in the forward or rear position; in the center position J3 controls both throttles.
The throttle trim is respected no matter the position of SC (unless you opted to for -95 to raise the disconnected throttle)

Default Apologies

This is the first chance I have had to get the transmitter in my hands for a long time to try and explain how I set it up. Please bear in mind I sorted this out months ago, after much experimentation and cannot remember exactly how I did it, but here goes.

I assigned channel 3 to (Throttle) left hand engine and channel 9 to (Throttle 2) right hand engine. I then assigned switch SG to control the selection of what the stick controls. To the rear you can start the left hand engine whilst the right remains at tick over, changing it to fully forwards allows you to start the right hand engine whilst the left remains at tick over. The centre position allows control of both engines for flight. The trim for both engines is on trim 3. You also need to set Master and Slave the opposite in the forward and back positions, this enables one engine to remain at tick over whilst you start the other, I believe that this is done by changing the group/ single mode in the menu but cannot check as my battery has just died.

Please note I have not flown this as yet, but it appears to work correctly when observing the servo monitor. Hope this helps.
