Dear all,

Im really very surpised that My futaba 6va is not responding to my RX or vice versa & my observation was after charging both Rx & Tx for 15 hours I then connect my Rx batt to Rx & check all servoes function,for the first Five minutes the RX & TX both respond percfectly fine then the next four to five minutes,all servoes start glitching.

The Tx reading on volt meter shows 80 to 90 % but keeps varing from 60 to 80%.,also checked all connectors which are slightly green in colours,must be the contact is bad,therefore cleant the connectors(green)but the glicthing problem still pursist.
Previously I had a dought on the Rx batt,since there is no way of checking the volt left in the Rx batt,therefore bought a new Rx Dry batt & installed new Duracell(Alkaline).
I again tried above test with the Tx & Rx dry batt installed in the model but observed the same as above after 5 minutes,the same glitching occurs.

Yesterday,I again both new Duracell dry batt for Rx & tried the same excercise but this time there was no response from either Tx or Rx from the begining meaning nothing responded,(no Tx/NO Rx but only glitching while the Tx was close to 6 inches from Rx antenna.other wise total dead.

Once while cleaning the contacts,I had removed the crystal & that fell from my hands to the ground,could it be possible that the crystal is damaged & not working?Could that he the culprit & control tranmission??????
what is the function of crystal.

pls help me.

Presently I sent my Tx & Rx to My dearest friend Nilesh Doshi-Grest guy & aeromodeller & also a full fledged commericial pilot,to check both set.

That's all a bit confusing. Are you saying that you charged Duracells for 15 hours ? Or you started with NiCds and then changed to Duracells ? If so how many and what type ?

Anyway with the way your TX meter is behaving I'd guess that your Tx battery is bad so changing the Rx battery won't do anything.

It is quite easy to damage a crystal by dropping it but it either works or not. If this is the Tx crystal you mean (there's one in the Rx too) the Tx will not transmit at all if it is damaged so that fact that yours works for 5 minutes suggests that the crystal is not the problem.

My recommendation is to send the TX, RX, servos and battery pack to Futaba (www.futabarc.com) or Radio South (http://www.radiosouthrc.com/). Both will do you a good job and take out the speculation.

From your comments about the green colored corrosion, I suspect you equipment has had some hard usage or bad storage and may have many points that have corroded and now cause bad or no contact where needed. Is the antenna securely screwed into its contacts on the transmitter? Are the battery terminals inside the transmitter clean and shinney? Are either of the battery wires inside the transmitter stiff or corroded (black wire disease could be present if old NiCads were left in the transmitter while it was stored and the cells ruptured or leaked). The advice to send it back to the manufacturer or a service center sound good.

Thanks for your prompt reply,I too have a dought on the Tx battery but how come the tx batt Nicd still shows power of 60 TO 80% but still keeps varing,I dont have a discharger or cycler to actually discharge all power from my Tx nicd,Any other easy method??????I even kept both Tx & Rx ON for the full day & GOT IT FULLY DRAINED & Then recharged it but too I just got a five minutes & later it started to glitch .This test was done on nicd-Tx/Rx batt

Even had dought on ANTENNA?? How do I check the antenna as I opened the back panel & seen that the white wire which goes from the switch to the antenna is properly connected & is o.k .how do I know that the antenna is working all fine,any method.

How do I check the crystal whether its work or not,need more information on crystal function & how do I know it works as I too have a dought on the crystal.

Pls can you adv step details to do a wiggle test or adv any site for further help.

I live in a very remote place called goa & Im the only crazy aeromodeller in goa-India.
Need you adv from your expert team as usaul you always do.

I honestly really appreciate the people offering so much to this sport for new comer & not letting us down but keeping our spirit high.

Geistware,If we (India) had a proper fullpledged hobby & repair center,I would never have bothered you'll,life abroad is COOL but we aeromoedellers sweat eah an every moment here cause any silly mistake takes us minimum one month to get any replacement parts & now its nerly my second year that IMm struggleing to fly a trainner model for which Ive already crashed my first model Hi jink(kadet) & now I went for my training 1200kms just to learn this crazy hobby as I cant sleep or do anything good without think of this hobby,it has got into me & my blood.I loved to see you'll fly but that not in my wish as Im glad atleast Ive one for my self but in my village its really very new & they all find it very amusing.Sorry to bore you but this the truth in India-goa.thanks for atlest reply to my post & pls help in what ever information you can give me,would be gratefull.

If your pack is only getting 60%-80% of rated capacity then it needs to be replaced. I would strongly recommend that you send your equipment to a service center to have it looked at. It may sound expensive but it is cheaper than a new plane.

Just a thought but you seem to imply that since your friend is a full fledge commercial pilot, would make a difference in his qualification on your radio problem, is he an electronic expert??

Its very true that I sent my Tx & Rx for a check to Nilesh but dont you think that I should understand the reason for this to happen,So in future I can take better care.

Its very surprising that this Rx & Tx is hardly being used at a average four to five times a month or even less & this problem has occured.

I m eagerly waiting for Nilesh to adv the reason but I strongly feel that this forum can do much more better as you all are always doing so.
