Ya, I frequently cycle my batteries with my titon. I also never charge higher than 1c.

On your JR charge switch, you can wire two outputs, and put your lowest drain servo on a y cord so you get twice the power going into the receiver. I do that often in high demand settings. Just cut the output wire and solder in an extra......or two switches on the single batt pack, either way it brings more power to the receiver. a full 10 amps...

I am doing this on almost everything .60 and up these days because I ampushing things hard. so far so good.

Thanx for all the replies!

I am (for now at least) planning to use 2 MPi Maricle Switches (the ones with 6v regulators) and 2 cell lipos. This was the recommended setup from TroyBuilt Models. Upon closer inspection, I see that the switches do indeed have 3 wires. So, I think I will go with the elevators on a Y and just put the second battery in Aux 2.

Thank you all for the speedy, informative responses.

Rich
I have used that setup with two miracle switches. I still prefer the A123s but the MPI switches are pretty good and reliable. Plug them directly into the receiver if you have enough ports. However, if its an aerobatic model and you have two servos on the elevators, it is beneficial to use two channels there.

If you dont have enough channels, I would put a y cord on something like the choke or throttle before I would y an elevator. Keeps them seeing the same power/signal loss ratios.

I use an optical kill switch and a manual choke. Do you think it's OK to put the Y on the Optical kill?

I have 8 planes using the spectrum DX-7 receivers and today when I was binding my 9th plane the receiver did its bind thing the same as every other time without a problem until I switch off and then switch on again, then it has lost its bind......It does not find the connection again until I re-bind all over again and then I get the exact same thing when I turn off the the power, the next time I turn back on again the connection is gone again. Any one know what is going on........do I have a defective receiver?

Bind- then remove bind pin before switching off?

Just curious to know if anyone has flown a Spectrum with a turbine and experienced a problem with the failsafe on throttle. Jetcat states you have to adjust the end point adjustments to +-50% to avoid this problem with the turbine's ECU.

Stevetar,
I have had "binding-doesn't-stick" issues when bench binding. I suspect that the Tx and Rx are too close to the workbench top, and something doesn't connect/bind right. If I lift the Tx and Rx off the bench by setting them on something, and not get them too close together, then things are fine. Is this a possible solution to your 9th?

Hello,

I could use some help from the experts. My DX7 radio cycles the retracts on my Hanger 9 Corsair when the receiver is turned on. If the gear is in the down position, the gear will retract and then entend down again when the receiver is turned on. If the gear is in the up position, the gear does not cycle when the receiver is turned on. Can the condition be corrected and if so, how?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Heli-NuBee,

I believe you just need to re-bind the receiver with the gear switch in the down position. Read about the fail safe feature.

That sounds right. many people bind their RX only once, to train the RX to the GUID (code) of the TX so it knows how to identify it (and from that point on, only listen to it). The problem is they then go on to make changes to the servo throws, servo direction, servo trim, etc. Binding does 2 things, besides training the RX how to identify the TX, it also registers the positions of the STICKS, SWITCHES, TRIM, SUB TRIM and DIRECTION settings so when you turn on the RX and no TX is present, those settings are maintained. So if you make sure to bind once to train the RX, then do all of your setup, sub trim, reversing, etc and then bind again when comepletely done, all of your surfaces will stay in the position you want them in which also happens to now match the position they would move to when you turn on the TX...

Thanks for the suggestion bigbird007 and jfetter. I tried re-binding and it worked as you indicated. The retracts no longer cycle from the down position when the receiver is turned on.

Thanks again, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Just picked up a DX-7 at my LHS today, bound it seems to work fine. Ordered (4)AR 7000 receivers from DirtCheapRC on e-bay for $79.00 and they include an 1100 mah rec. battery. I'll use the 4.8 packs on my smaller 72 Mhz HiTech Eclipse birds, and 6.0v packs on the DSM's. The DX-7 looks real nice, looked at the X9203 but didn't feel I needed the extra stuff, bought the additional flight packs instead. Also bought several sets of the DS-821 Digital servos for $55.00 for (4) from the same guy, to help feed my buying frenzy. No if I can just get these ARF's that have piled up together...!!!

I sent my 6 AR7000 receivers to Horizon last week thursday for the QC up-grade and was surprized to receive them today. I have installed one in a Telemaster and it worked as advertised. Thanks to Horizon.

He's talking about the anti-brownout upgrade that makes the unit come back to life faster if the voltage drops too low instantaneously.

So if I have 'AR7000 I can send it in for the upgrade--it has never been used yet.
want to be a better flyer before using that TX and RX.

If you wouldn't mind, could you post more info or links to this info? I just checked Horizon's web site and didn't see any bulletins or any mention of an "anti-brownout" upgrade on the AR7000.

Thanks

It's not really an "anti-brownout upgrade", it's an upgrade to the firmware (called Quick Connect) that controls how the unit acquires the channels in use by the TX when powered up; it simply starts scanning at the last 2 channels it knew about, which in turn makes for a faster re-connect since the TX is likely still on the same 2 channels if it was caused by signal loss. Think of it as just an enhancement to the channel scanning algorithm...
