Default 9C upgrade to 9C super qustions

Had a 9C since they came out and wanted a new radio so I ordered a super.

I bought a non Futaba ACampac that worked fine in the 9C but the Super doesn't see it. I hold the mode and exit buttons when I turn it on and it sees a Futaba Campac but not my non Futaba one. Did Futaba find a way to not allow us to use non Futaba brand Campacs?

When I transfer a program from the 9C to the Super it marks it as a 9C file, why?

Any big differences in programing, I fly 3D airplanes and 3D helos.

AFAIK the only thing thats different is the data format, I'm a bit surprised it wont work.

I've never had any problems upgrading models to super. It's not vastly different but it is different.

I have to ask...I have a 9C and have been really pleased with it....
I just recently upgraded to the 14mz (WOW... what a difference....but that is not for here)

my question is what were you looking for when you decided to "upgrade" from the 9c to the Super?
Just curious as they are sooo similar...

as to your question...I'm surprised as well... as I have an aftermarket Campac in my 9C and we have transfered a couple models from it directly into the Super without a problem.... IIRC, you can't go backwards though

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll attach one. I bought the 9C when it first came outfive and a half years ago. I have over 50 planes and fly easily eight or so hours of flight time a week and along with the set up time and all probably have 2000hours of use out of it. It shows its usage so since Tower had a good deal and I'll get the FASST module for it when they come out I thought I'd get a Super. I don't have a reason to get anything better though it would be nice. I just can't see buying a $1500 radio.

I didn't say upgrade, I just said new.

The Non Futaba Campac was one that gave me 32 models on the 9C, not a 6 model 16k. Maybe that has something to do with it...

Either way it doesn't work and Tower doesn't show a bigger Campac so I need to figure something out, at a minimum I need 28 slots on the Super.

The 9C Super also has much better support for using gyros than the regular 9C, which may or may not be an issue for you. I never considered this functionality important until I put a gyro on the rudder of a 1/4 scale ME109 (102" and 34 lbs) and then I wished I had a 9C super instead of the regular 9C. You can still use gyros with the 9C, but you have to use the endpoints to control the gyro functionality. The 9C Super has a gyro mode that is much better.

Dang Evan,
That thing has more wrinkles than the waitress at Myras in Valdese!

Send that sucker back to F and get a replacement for free.
Mine is no where near that bad but is due for one too. Like you I just can't stand the thought of being without the radio for a week and a half.

Vic, it looks a lot worse in person! Now taht I have the Super I might just send it in....

The Campac is my Campac, I cleaned the contacts and it works... Guess the 9C and it were friends and didn't want to part...

Hansen? I got it 5 years ago, I don't remember from who... Turns out that since I put it in a Futaba Campac case the pins touch sometimes... took it out of the case...

Mine doesn't have a case (hansen 132 model memory) it's just a circuit board that plugs in.

Like the others have stated and you thought it is supposed to play well with others.

OK, you have my attention. What's this about a replacement for FREE????? I just bought what I thought was a used 9CAPS (turns out to be a 9CAP) off RCU traiding post and it looks worse than the photo above. I just got off the phone with Futaba asking if I could purchase a replacement cover and they told me to send it in. I ask about the cost and they told me it would be $30 labor and about $8 for the cover. No mention of Free. Fourty bucks more in my pocket would be good if I knew how to make it happen. I'm really interested as I've go a 9CAPS I bought a year ago January, and I can see where the plating on it is startting to bubble.

I would need to do a pretty extensive search here in RCU but I recall several instances with others having the same problem being addressed by BAX or the other one in the Futaba support thread. Again I think it is a warranty type thing.

Hello Gentlemen,

Please remember, that ANYTIME you have a peeling face plate on your
9C, call our support line at 217-398-8970, they can help you out with
information on returning this to our service center.

While fuel can be the culprit (clean your transmitter after each use),
if the transmitter was not badly abused and terribly fuel soaked, many
times we will just change the faceplate out for the customer at no
charge.

Sincerely,
Krysta
Lead Futaba Customer Service and Programming Technician

They made that offer so long ago, wonder if they will still honor it now. Mine is in brand new condition and I was thinking of selling it, but after looking at the new butt ugly 12 channel one, I might just get the 2.4GHz module and keep it.
