The REAL reason for the Futaba Forum.

RE: The REAL reason for the Futaba Forum.
Regarding the 2400mAh 5 cell pack in the thread I referenced to.
The pack was clearly identified as being a nicd pack, most 2400mAh nicd cells are low resistance types and should be up to the task.
The guid issue and heat issue together have been small potatoes compared to the Spektrum brown out issue as far a accidents go. The Zguid issue should have been handled a bit better, but as I know my module (TM-8) is not Zguid and if it were to be able to become Zguid, I'd know it right away, so there would be no risk for me flying with some clueless fasst user who had a Zguid transmitter. The heat issue, while something to be aware of if you fly in high temperatures (what, me worry[:-]) some simple precautions, like shading your plane when sitting out in the hot sun (more than canopy has been lost to that one). The lower voltage on the signal output on the R614RF receiver is the least of the issues, as it seems that the real culprit is the servos involved are actually drawing current on the signal lead (sinking) If this were a Futaba problem, then how come Hitec is fixing the problem with their servos that have this problem???
At this moment I'm planning on getting the Spektrum module for my 9Cs, as Horizon is giving them away (almost[8D]) with a seven or 9 channel receiver, as I fly with a couple of "Spektrumistas" we can all get a good deal, as I can then fly my parkfliers with cheap Spektrum receivers and fly my more valuable planes with fasst.
As far as marketing hype, Horizon is the master of that, engines that can be put in a plane and flown without even having to fiddle with the needle valves and they put on restrictors so you can't screw it up too bad, or of course adjust it correctly at all if you happen to live in high altitude areas, or fly in cold dense air (who, me)
Spektrum/Horizons marketing is very slick. Futaba, on the other hand is clueless in the marketing game.

RE: The REAL reason for the Futaba Forum.
I find it highly amusing about "the manufacturers forum" etc etc.
Bax & Krysta as was quite rightly pointed out work for the IMPORTER/DISTRIBUTOR for Futaba, when the JR Forum was up and running, Danny posted there as well. But once again, he was a rep for the IMPORTER/DISTRIBUTOR of JR.
I would love to see Futaba or JR (the Japanese end) posting in these forums, you wouldn't get a straight answer 99% of the time !!

I just cant resist.
Threads like this are why so many people leave RCU for other forums. This place has become overrun with Fanboys and whiners.

RE: The REAL reason for the Futaba Forum.
I second that motion, stay with the 9C[8D]
But if you're looking to try 2.4 on the cheap, check out the give away prices on the Spektrum modules for Futaba[X(]
I use the futaba 8 channel module, and switch back and forth between 2.4 and 72.
