Default Futaba 8U question

Hello RCU Radio experts!

I have a question about my Futaba 8U radio. I bought this radio from a club member a few years ago, and it was, and still is in like new condition. Always kept in a case, never dropped etc. About a year ago I bought a Spektrum DM8 8 channel module. But due to an eye injury I have not been able to fly. I am now getting ready to start flying again, and noticed something odd.

When I turn it on, it displays the voltage. It shows 10.5, but will then change to 10.3, then back to 10.5 again, back and forth, maybe a few times per second, or less. No real pattern to it. (The 10.5 reading is after sitting for a week.) I was wondering if this is normal with spektrum, or is this something that needs to be addressed? It did not do this when running a FM module.

I know it would be easy to just buy a new radio, but with the style of flying I do, the old 8U does everything I need, and more. Any ideas??

That is normal and pertains to the duty cycle of the module. My 8U did it with the same module and does it now with the Assan module. When I had my Optic 6, it did the same thing. There are comments about this on the other forum, but all in all, it's normal.

Thanks for the info, I kind of thought it was like a pulse for the Spektrum, but was not sure.

I have two JR XP9303 Tx's, one with a Spektrum Module and one with a 72Mhz Synthesizer Module. I do not see the voltage jumping around on either of these. It seems to hold and slowly decrease with use.

I realize this is a Futaba question, but since we both have a Spektrum Module I thought it might be relavent.

I asked a friend of mine who owns a 9303 and he did not remember that happening, but would look at his when he could. I appreciate any info, it may just be the module in the Futaba radio. Other than that it works fine, range checks ok, full function.
