RE: OFFICIAL KYOSHO THREAD: V1 and FW-05 series
what about .18 cv-rX variant? what does the X specify? i haven't seen your other thread, but you're right about cutting the shaft. i guess as long as you get an engine that requires fewer additional parts/mods, you'll have a good deal
that darn flywheel nut, i had loctite on it and all, i think i just didn't tighten it enough. sometimes i overlook simple things. [&:] this time i bathed it in loctite lol.
i'm prolly gonna stick with stock gearing for a while. i need to stop spending $$$ on rc's haha.
the hp in engine specs is usually overrated anyway. it's hard to really compare them based on the publicized number. i think any of the discussed .18 engines will have plenty of power for this chassis, especially if you're just bashing. you WILL overpower the tires.

RE: OFFICIAL KYOSHO THREAD: V1 and FW-05 series
oh yeah forgot to put the x. os 18cv-rx is the one. cv-rx is slide carb, side exhaust and with pullstart. the 18tz is rear exhaust and a little expensive.
me to i have to stop putting money on my rc's and stop breaking them. i have a t-maxx and broke the ball bearing on the wheel and the bulkheads.
your right in their on the .18 engines.
hey joizeex pm me your cellphone # so that i can call you tom if am going to montclair. ill pm mine to.

when i saw that OS, i was like "is that a bootleg? or did they just make a different heatsink?"
i like that "VTEC" on the lrp, reminds me of my Acura Integra days hehe.

RE: OFFICIAL KYOSHO THREAD: V1 and FW-05 series
WOW! just ran the FW06 with the THS pipe on it and holy crap! Its a missile now! I was running the Kyosho tuned pipe on it but this thing is sooo much quicker and has improved fuel consumption aswell. I had to grind a ****load off the front of the pipe where the holder attaches however as the tie rods would hit the pipe.

if you look from the top and shine a flashlight over the car, you'll see 2 holes with set screws, just like in the rear. they are located inward from where the front of the lower A-arm is attached to the hinge-pin. look in your maintenance manual to see where they are. i didn't even know they existed until the first time i took the front apart for some replacement parts.

RE: OFFICIAL KYOSHO THREAD: V1 and FW-05 series
yup. i've been running with some drifting tires recently. works pretty well at half throttle with a GXR18 engine. the one-way bearing in the gear box was slipping though. this is a 3Racing bearing and not stock. the stock one was doing the same thing some time ago. i cleaned it up and hoping it'll hold up a while longer.

RE: OFFICIAL KYOSHO THREAD: V1 and FW-05 series
i finally fitted the OS MAX 18 cv-rx engine.here are some photos.all i needed to buy was engine mounts, a Flywheel (for GS 15 VS054) and a Pilot shaft (for 2-speed VS059).I also bought the Team Kyosho Muffler.I've broken the engine in but i haven't tuned it.
I will post in some days after i tune it.it is running now at 80C degrees.
