what should i get?
PLEASE HELP ME. I AM NEW TO THIS AND LOOKING TO GET A NITRO POWERED IMPREZA. I HAVE LOOKED AT THE KYOSHO FAZER SERIES AS THEY SEEM TO BE A GOOD PRICE OMPARED TO OTHERS MANAFACTURERS. I DONT WANT TO SPEND TOO MUCH AS THIS IS MY FIRST ONE AND PROBERBLY WILL END CRASHING IT A FEW TIMES BEFORE I GET GOOD ENOUGHT TO MAKE IT WORTH WHILE GOING OUT AND BUYING ONE OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE KITS. ALSO DO YOU KNOW WHAT SORT OF SPEEDS THESE GO TO AND HOW MUCH FASTER WILL THE 2 SPEED TRANSMISION MAKE IT.

Agree with above. Two speeds usually give a 25% or so increase in top speed, but of course if you put a single speed spur gear and pinion the same size as the second gears of the 2-speed, you will have the same top speed, with this in mind, you should consider that 2 speeds are for increased acceleration, not necessarily top speed. It just happens that the top gear is usually higher geared than the standard gear of a single speed. I also suggest you get a better car to start with, as it will mean it breaks less when you do inevitably crash it. Consider the HPI RS4 3 EVO+ if you can stretch the budget a bit, it has a pretty good engine, a 2 speed, parts are easy to find and cheap, it's an ideal starter car and has good potential for improvement.

I agree. Get the evo plus. HPI makes beautiful bodies of both the rally and the on-road impreza that fit perfectly on EVO plus. Or if you could find the simple EVO version of RS4 with the prepainted impreza body (RTR). Check those links:

thanks for the advice everyone. I had a look at the price of different cars and have ended up buying a kyosho alpha 3 as I found a second hand one at a good price on ebay.

RE: what should i get?
Can anyone tell me of any mods worth doing to this car with out spending a fortune as I am new to this. It already has a tuned pipe on it and I have fitted an uprated air filter to help it breath better. I am thinking about a 2 speed gearbox for it aswell.
