Changed my mind not going to put a .21 in
Hey Ferrarimk13 I have changed my mind about one of my winter project I am not going to put a .21 engine in my R-40. The .21 just weight too much the increased weight would have a very negative effect on the R-40 handling. I like the way this car handles too much to make it a purpose built landspeed attemp vehicle only. A OS.12TZ Spec2 weights 208 grams, OS .18TZ ( non -pullstart) weights 222grams just 14 grams more but the OS Max.21 VZ-R weights a whopping 315 grams!! Thats 107 grams more that is too much for my purposes.

good, i didnt believe u would have gotten too many great results with a .21, and im glad you're sticking with the 18TZ. That extra weight would really unsettle the chassis, and it sounds like your setup is pretty good for the purposes

I would like to add that much of the .21 engine's weight is at the head something that would destroy your low center of gravity.

Just too heavy, really surprised that a .21 would weight that much more than a .18 yikes!!! I will just keep the fusions for landspeed attemps vehicles

Good idea except the material would need to be something else besides carbon it does not disscipate heat that well.

Maybe aligning the engine horizonally instead of vertically...LOL I think that the.18tz is WAY better than the .21 fon an R40 when on track.

yeah, this guy had that sirio i was talking about, which head was kinda smeared, but had a very low center of gravity.

Who knows...maybe their alignment caused loss of power...maybe they were not compatible with most of the cars out there...
