Anything is possible..... within reason.
Been looking into wider rear tires for some time too, the limiting factor is body clearance.
Additional tire & rim width has must go under the car..

0 off-set standard dia. M/T (truggie) wheels, do not set out any more than
the buggy wheels that the Ipanema tires come with now.

cabj21, the link to the video is not working.
If you like the Ipanemas, you'll love the
jato tire/mt wheel tire set-up, damn they
hook up great.

Any standard dia. monster truck rim that has a 17mm.
hex will work. The Savage rims with the 17mm hexes
are what you can use if your into the bling-bling looks
thing. I used a set of the JConcepts Rulex white spoked
rims. That way I can acetone the tires off when they
need to be replaced and not worry about the finish on
the rims getting ruined.
Also, remember to order a set of the Panther #F140
foams to stuff in those Jato tires and get ready for one
tough fight getting them mounted. He! He! He!............

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
After some battery issues and waiting for some dry weather I was able to get my car out for a rip in a small parking lot and wanted to share my results.
My Ipanemas are just about smoked now and it has about 8 tanks on it now. So, here it goes.

Thanks for posting the video, it's cool to see you having fun.
About the tires being "smoked", seeing how you drive on that surface, what shore rating are you using?
Every time you come to a "screeching" stop or skid you can hear the tires taking a beating. They do sound good :-)
If you live in the Conn area you should check out "Control Freaks" track. It's very nice, you might have a lot of fun there.

Good luck, car looks fast.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
Those tires have been taking a real beating and they owe me nothing. They screech something ridiculous.
Funny you say that because today I went out for the last time on those tires and took a picture or four for a friend to see what they look like. I am also having a slight alignment issue. As I dont currently have any tools to make it perfect I am trying to work things out by the wear pattern.
So, I have pics and my last video before replacing them.

Oh and they (controlfreakz) are to far away to spend all that money and then decide that I am only a parking lot basher. I asked if I could drive up and check it out and they never got back to me about it.

Just apply a little shoe goo to that one and rotate them front to rear, I think you can run one more session with them. [sm=tongue_smile.gif] Glen

Looks like once you get the wear pattern figured out uou'll be just fine. Car looks fast with that engine.
Too bad about the Control Freakz track being such a big drive. Once you get into track racing you get addicted and will drive to other states to race, lol
Me racing in Florida, it's not uncommon for me to drive 5 hours for a State Series event.
Good luck, enjoy!

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I wanna go up to try out their track and not race to see if I can even control the car. They require that you are a member of ROAR and then I would want to sign up for a membership to them as well. Cheaper that way.
I would hate to pay the 80 dollars for all of that and then not even like it or have enough skill to drive on a track.

It takes a little time to get used to racing on tracks, but once you race on the track you'll love it.
I'm sure they'll work with you and give you track time.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I will go back to their website and send them an e-mail directly and see what they have to say about it.
I will be taking another vacation again soon and make it up there for a race weekend. they have a practice day on Saturdays.
I will report my finding in the near future. I would love to race on their track and have been checking it out for a while.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
Bump start is the best. What a relief it is to have a motor that works with a starting system that when set up right is the cats meow. (I have other words to explain such a thing but currently will get banned on RCU for using them.) I love the fact that it is a prime, stick it on the box, give her some fuel to run on and I am ready to go and tear up my tires.
Wonder if I had a .18 in there instead of a .27 if it would be easier on tires? Maybe I should be saving up for a .21!!

Maybe a clockworks modded .12? That might just do the trick! I am thinking about trying a different tire out now, but these Ipanemas sure sound cool when they are screaming around!

Sorry to hear about your bad experence with the Road Star.
What Ipanema dealer did you purchase them from?
Were you bashing or racing with them?
Feel free to contact Ipanema directly, you may not have the new wheel.

We were bashing on a asphalt parking lot, same place we ran the stock ones until one of them blew up
