Default RE: Which spark plug?

is that after a run, or trying to start it for a couple minutes then taking it out?

If it after its been running around, then its to rich, the filiment should not get wet, if that is happening, then the carb is supplying to much fuel to the motor

ORIGINAL: Spetz

The glow plug looks like new
But is a bit wet
And when I put the igniter on it (while the plug is in my hands) I can hear it sizzle and smoke up a bit
Of course and is sizzle like that since there is fuel on the coil. It doing to me too

Actually it's when I take it out because I can't get the engine restarted (after a run, cool down, fill up with fuel and prime up)

Watch out not to overprime and get a large amount of fuel into the combustion chamber I have starting problems too, but once i get it started, the next time i will put the engine on the starter box, the engine starts instantly because the sleeve was not cooldown yet. Try have your engine's temps high if you want to run. To start the engine easier the first time, i uscrew a bit the glox plug and give a try on starting it. It will be much more easier and the engine will start but don't forget to screw the glow plug again Also, don't overdo it with the unscrewing, becasue if you do, the compression will be few and the engine will not have the proper pressure so to ignite the fuel

Mine is the opposite
It starts trouble free when cold, hard when warm, and pretty much impossible when hot?

I think you should replace your fuel tubing and check your tank to be perfectly sealed. I don't think that is something of the engine. Lets hope it's nothing about the engine.

thats the common symptoms of a worn motor.

When the motor warms up, the metals expand, if the sleeve is worn out, it will start easily enough when cold, as the metals are in there normal relaxed position, when heat gets into the metals they expand, decreasing the pinch in the motor and causing excessive blowby.

How hard is it to turn the flywheel over by hand? Can u do it easily with 1 finger? If so motor is worn out, time to get a new 1

But the motor is new, right Spetz? And if indeed the motor worned out, he will not throw away the motor, maybe he got sleeve/piston/conrod set and revive the engine but first he must be sure that is not nothing else

The motor is a few years old but has very little fuel through it
To give you an idea, the original tyres that came in the kit car have not worn out yet... so this motor hasn't even gone through 1 set of tyres yet.
I have put about 2-2.5 litres through it lately and probably about 3-5 litres before. So realistically it has about 5-8 litres through it

The pinch is still very good, when the engine is really hot (ie just turn off) pulling the starter is easier than when cold, but still feels like it has strong compresion

Osiris, no I wouldn't rebuild this motor. I can't find piston/sleeve kit and an 18 CVR or TZ is too cheap (online) to bother with this motor

Whatever you want Theoritically, 8 litres of fuel is a lot of tanks. Maybe is it's time Don't forget that with a bad tuning you lose some litres (engine's life)

I know... but people report that they get 50 litres through?
Also, it has quite a bit of power... it just doesn't seem worn to me
Even the sound it makes when I pull the starter, you can tell it has really high compresion

I didn't say that an engine can't get through 50 litres (but it looks a little too much).

Much better. I heard of engines that last up to 10 gallons (37 litres).

We don't use gallons here but I'd say if anyone does refer to a gallon it'd be an English gallon (4.5L)

Anyway the whole imperial system is idiotic...
Metric makes sense, imperial sucks
