Default RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others

I have a question that I was wondering if someone could answer. I have a RS4 EVO+ and I recently purchased the front one-way diff for it. I noticed that the bevel gear on the one-way is slightly larger than the gear that came with the car.

The problem I am having is it seems the new one-way diff is rubbing inside the differential housing. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Could someone offer some advice as to what I can do?

Thanks.

are you sure the gear is completely placed into its sport where the bearings go into the plastic notches? if not, try adding a litle spacer inbetween the housing.

How are the HPI M compound slicks as far as grip and life is concerned?

I notice HPI also make slicks with shore numbers but they cost twice as much as the M slicks

ehh, slicks arent good to use on nitros no matter what company. They need a lot of heating up, and still lack traction. They are good for drifting i heard.

So are radials better you mean?
Or you're comparing to foams?

foams definitely. Radials are pretty much equal to slicks, because all rubber with that much power is hard to keep under control.

Rubbers are pretty good from my experience. They warm up quickly and provide good grip for bashing. Lately, I have been using mugen 1/8 foam wheels. I gotta say foam wheels provide the best grip when they warm up. They are unbeatable.

Just ordered the HPI Nitro RS4 3 Drift RTR. I'm looking to find an exhaust upgrade, and maybe some carbon fiber. Does anyone else have one of these? If so, where can you find upgrades?

Foams (for my size wheels/tyres) are really hard to find and really expensive
So rubber is the only choice I have really
And, the really grippy slicks from HPI are twice as much as the M compound slicks
I of course have no idea how grippy any of these are. I just know that my Tamiya slicks aren't really that grippy. In fact they are just a bit better than the rally block tyres I had for the car before

Sorry, I am not sure what foams you should run. I run x-pattern belted radial rubbers and they are great for parking lot bashing.

Just wanted to drop by and show some pics of my new rx7 with chameleon paint.

sweet paint, is that spazstix paint?

wefliss, some CF parts from the regular RS4 fit, like the shock towers, and well, thats it. But if you want a CF upperdeck for the drifter, try to find one from the drift kit, which you put on a regular RS4, they use a carbon fiber upperdeck, with the tank mounted in the back, and the central located engine.

Thanks, the paint is Khameleon made by House of Kolors (Blue/Green/Purple blend). I was trying to mock copy the rx-7 shown in the link below. I have the video and the rx7 looks cool just like the Signal Auto Skyline r34.

Hey, just wanted to show you guys my new setup. OS .18tz modded by AB Mods with RD Logics turbo pipe. It was a pain trying to install this engine because of numerous fitting problems. I finally decided to make it single speed and the results are below.

I will let you guys know how it does tomorrow.

Mmm yummy engine
Was it hard to get the 2 speed in or the rear exhaust manifold?
What kind of chassis is that? If I remember right, somebody had a Team Blue Star chassis, I think it was you.
How much was it?

Doonagoowin, I got it the Team Blue Star Chassis for $50 shipped including insurance and track&confirm on ebay. The exhaust was not a problem, it fit perfectly. The only problem is the damn 2 speed. I ended up going single speed 25t pinion and 43t spur to break the engine in.

Engine: $140
AB MOD: $113
Exhaust: $20 (got a deal on it; it should be $60)

Total money spent on this engine: $270.

You see my venom tires I have on in the front. Please do not buy these Trash Tires. They are cheap but they only lasted 4 tanks. I ran my car today with my old and used hpi belted x-pattern tires in the back and these venom tires in the front; the result was very little wear on the hpi tires and the venom tires were in pieces already. It is not worth the money for the venom when you can add a couple of dollars and get some long lasting hpi tires.

Hey FerrariMK13, I got a question for you. What is the setting on your high speed needle? I broke the engine in with 2 turns from fully closed and the engine overheated (stated in the manual). I had to turn it like 3 turns from close to keep it at 200 degress fahrenheit. Maybe because the engine is modded. Let me know.

Hey, I am selling the OS .18tz AB Modded engine - $235 shipped. It is almost new. As a matter of fact, I have not complete the break-in process yet. The engine has about 6-7 tanks of fuel ran through it. PM me for pictures. I am running O'Donnell RTR 20% fuel. The engine is the most powerful small block I have ever seen. Ran like a champion and never stops revving.

Reason for selling: Just don't want to be involved with turbo engines anymore.

JonKBMW, just look on google. I know UltimateHobbies.com has one on display at their store. The same red color as Gynaikas as well.

Hey anybody interested in buying an OS .18tz AB MOS STAGE 2, PM ME. The engine is shown below. Asking $235 shipped. This is the most powerful small block engine you can get. This version will smoke the EB modified version with no doubt. Just look around and you will see how much more the crankshaft and engine is modified compared to the EB modded version. Engine has 7 tanks of Odonnell 20% rtr fuel; I have not complete the break in process yet.

If you don't mind turbo plugs, get the .18tz. The .18cv-rx is a joke compared to the .18tz. The rear exhaust design of the .18tz gives it the advantage to put out more power.

The .18tz is the best engine on the market right now. Nothing else can compare especially if you get it modded. If you are going to get the .18 cv-rx, I will do you a favor. Get the Epic .18 from UltimateHobbies.com. It is not listed on their website but they have 5 in stock at their store. The Epic .18 is the same as the .18tz but it is going for $109 at ultimate hobbies because the engine is discontinued. It is also side exhaust and standard plug (fits stock exhaust pipe). It will outrun the .18tz because it revs higher for stock form and outputs the same amount of power. Look it up on the compare engine review of rcuniverse, nobody has ever given it a bad review. Easy to tune and very fast (not to mention it is on sale for $109).

Look at the articles below and you make the decision:

EPIC .18 ($109):
http://www.beatyourtruck.com/prodreview-EPIC18.html

OS .18tz($150-180 depending on what version you buy):
http://osengines.com/engines/osmg2110.html
