Putting my axles to use, picked up this "stick" from a friend for a good price and in the process of building it. The Jeep I might use, but right now it is just a mock up and if I do use it, a lot of trimming work is needed to be done.
Stick Chassis
IMEX Krawler Tires, maxx rims
Locked clod axles, with 8T, 32P, gears on 45T lathes (not pictured)
EVX esc
4200 pack, might go lipo, we'll see
CPE MT clod to maxx wheel wideners (1") and adapters
90 degree flex FTW!!!

I was thinking that too.... I am finding that with my custom chassis (I hope to finalize tomarrow) about 60-70 deg of flex is plenty and seems more stable than when I have it set up with more.

Thats about 15-25 degrees to much flex. You need to limit the travel on. Even Kevin the owner of the Crawler Store limits the Flex on it.

[X(][X(][X(] You can never have too much flex

As far as articulation goes, my opinion is that any more than 60 degrees will hurt you on the rocks more than it will help.
90 degrees of articulation is just ridiculous and not needed.
W/ 90 degrees of articulation your rig will be forced so out of balance so badly that it will actually flip due to weight transfer as the one wheel rises so high and the other falls.
It's the pendulum effect.
It will also cause you to get hung up on terrain that you would easily cross if you limited the articulation.
When you limit the articulation you are bringing other forces into play such as your rigs over all balance, your center of gravity, weight placement, etc.
The biggest advantage is that your crawler will be more stable and easier to drive .

I know Gra Tou (as seen on RCC
) is not a newbie by any means, but if a newbie read the thread and saw 90+ deg was used and no one saw a problem they may think that it is a good thing.[&:]

It's easy to assume when you see a pic like the one posted above.

Just lower the stick a little more that way when you flip it you can still drive around. The tires would be the highest point, you would just have to get used to driving it when it flipped.

hi dudes come on stick is a lame name for such a sweet truck stick sound like its made of wood please change name to some thing kool like RAMROD lol dont get mad its just a idea

There is already a chassis called the Ram Rod.
Unfortunately it's just a second rate copy of the PIMP CANE chassis.
The true name of the the "Stick" is the TCS Extreme.
But it has been known as the "Stick" from day one.

you could even go so far as to put a gyro on your truck so that when it flips it would reverse the steering to keep the steering normal. It'd be pretty sweet!

Looks great. Get more pictures, I'm trying to build a Stick from scratch, similar to the RocMaxx chasssis, but on a 1/25 scale....
So, too much flex is bad? Keep it under 60*? I'm a noob to crawling (not rc in general), so I thought the more flex the better.

too much fles will actually hurt you in most situations. Limited flex will allow your center of gravity to come into play, you cog isnt too great when a tire is flexed up over the roof, it also allows the car to apply traction to the flexing wheel. IF it just kept on flexing, then there would be little traction to that wheel. Sorry if that was confusing, but maybe if dezfan sees this he can help, he explained how too much flex can hurt, and it made sense!

I know I have alot to learn, but I'm building a similar crawler for the summer (guess were it will crawl), and me and some other people on various RC and Xmod forums are having a build off.
