Guver,
Try Moab or Mashers first. Mashers work well star notch the foam. Also if you try using some playdough in between the cuts, thinly spread it gives some extra firmness and front end weight. If you compete check to see if legal first. Here is my LR3 Wheely King on a set of Mashers.

Thanks man, you may have saved me $60. I ordered the axle parts and got a chance to run the WK and am very pleased now. The redrocks do pretty good with plastic bb's in them. I used foams in the rear and wish I had used bb's in them as well because they stand up too much.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Dude,
You freaked me out at first. I didn't see the whole thread at first. It actually looks real good on the Wheely King. Only down side is that if your going to do some serious rock crawling switch over to the original shell. This shell makes it a little more top heavy, I haven't had a chance to mess with the weight distribution yet. By flipping the battery to the front would probably solve that issue. I agree with you Rovers do Rule. I wish I could find a nice defender body as well. I have been looking at the bushwacker body, seen some nice one's as well. Thanks man.

Iv'e never heard of the bb thing. How does it work. I may have to try that. Good idea. Also if you go with the mashers, swap tread around at least on the front axle, this helps tremendously......Rock on....

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Thanks for the tips guys. I started playing with the truck with the suggestions mentioned and I completely stripped the spur gear. i think it was not making good contact to begin with. I'm going to get the higher tooth spur gear and adjust from there.

The clicking you hear is built in and is to protect the weak stock plastic diff gears from stripping/melting when to much power is added and not due to anything else.....so you can go solid and lock the diff or get hpi nitro mt metal gears which i think drop right in. Hope this helps

Remember when you get the higher tooth spur gear make sure you get the correct mesh or you will keep stripping them out. You can use a small peice of notebook paper, works well. Has anyone had any luck finding any axle extentions?

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
I just installed an aluminum locker in the rear of my wheely king. 2 seconds after i put the last screw back in, i noticed i had left out one of the shims inside the diff carrier... will it be ok like this or do i need to take it back apart and put the shim in? I assume that it will be fine since nothing spins inside the carrier anymore.... any input?

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Let me clear any misunderstanding here. If you are talking about parts A850 you will be ok. The spider gears will no longer be turning so these washers will no longer have a use. The purpose of these were to give a metal surface for the back side of the spider gear to reside on. These gears no longer will be turning. Now if however you are talking about part # Z892 you will need these. But you mentioned that it was inside the carrier. Look in your manual or go online to see exactly what parts you are talking about.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
I found a guy on ebay that has wheel spacers/extensions. His name is robert forsberg look up wheel extension. I emailed him and he made some up to fit my king and they are real nice and reasonable price too. I am running the 17mm hex ones with moab 40 series on axial oversize beadlock wheels. Works great. I and running a 55 turn and 13 96 gears( which required some work to the tranny to get the gears to mesh) and a mamba max and it crawls awesome! Love the extra clearance with the 40 series.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Ponyboy,
LOOKS SWEET!!!!!!!! I am trying to get by hands on a Tamiya Hilux Toyota as well. Id like to see some more pic's of your WK......some with the body off. I just got done ordering my servo mount from the RCGuy can't wait for that to arrive. I am going to use the waterproof servo from the EMAX hopefully. Not sure if it runs on the same voltage. It's the new blue servo's that are suppose to be completly waterproof. Any thoughts on this?

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
here is my new chassis its called a WIDOW CHASSIS this thing is crazy awesome let me know what you all think i got the plans from a guy on a different site. It still needs some more tweaking but it works real good now lol cant wait to see what it does when it is all the way coplete.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
The widow is a great chassis. Honestly this example has WAY TOO MUCH ARTICULATION!! you only need 45 -60 degrees to be effective. You give up stability with any more than that!!

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
yeah i need to cut the links down and change the shocks then it will look better and hopefully perform well thanks for the advice

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Really all you need to do is but Nitro Fuel tubing inside the shocks under the piston(approx. 1/2" or so) to limit the the stroke of the shock. That should help alot and less work!! That would also lower the ride height just abit a get it out of the clouds!! Good Job on the fabrication too!!

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
I just installed lockers and flipped the chassis in my WK... I also orderd an extended wheelbase kit from http://teamstrc.com ..... Now Im going to need an servo mount to mount the steering servo on the front axle.... I need one that does NOT require the sock mount to be moved, and it needs to included everything I need. It would be great if the vendor accepted paypal.... any ideas?
