I have been thinking of a way to support the keel weight when the sailboat is on its stand. I have some stress cracks on my bulb.
My stand is a fishing seat from Wal-Mart ($6.97).
I added a support on the bottom; see pictures.
I made the support out of cotton and put a strip of 2β cloth tape down the center, and stitched the edges and down the center.
I put it on with glue and tacks. I think it helps a lot.

Jan,
I do not know how I got the cracks they just appeared. I think supporting the bulb will help; it sure wonβt hurt.
Don
PS
One of these days I might learn to sew straight.

Hi Don,
Love the zigzag....
If he bulb is only glued onto the fin, the difference in shrinking and expanding of the two different materials could be responsible for the cracks.
The bulb on my Voyager (2,2 Kg) has a steel pin securing it, the epoxy is just to fill up the gap.
Regards, Jan.

It has a stainless steel rod trough the bulb all the way to the top of the deck. I think just the plastic is cracked.
Jan if you look close at the zig zag you can see spider wire in the middle for support.
