Hi everybody,
I bought this boat off a friend of a friend of a friend, and I have no idea what it is. He told me what he thought it was, but that was ages ago
I am also having trouble sailing it because it is either to windy or not windy enough..... I have a funny feeling that the sail configuration is all wrong as well.
Can anyone offer or direct me to someplace where I can check the configuration and get sailing tips?
Thanks

Hi,
It is sitting on a door and there is a door in the background if that gives some perspective.
It is about 90cm from bow to stern and from the bottom of the keel to the top of the mast it is about 1.5m. Now in imperial
that is 59 inches high and 35.5 inches long.
Appreciate your help

Most sailboats are rigged similiar. Look at the manuals for some of the sailboats from Kyosho here
http://www.kyosho.com/eng/support/in...cht_index.html
From your pictures it looks like the front sail ( jib ) bottom pivot point is wrong. I think the aluminum boom at the bottom of that sail is flipped end to end
Post some closer photos of the rigging near the deck.

This is now my most photographed boat
Which means I need to take more photos of my other boats to keep up
The boat came with no instructions and I think the decals came with the transmitter (it is a Hitec Ranger) and the guy just stuck them on (I am not a big fan of them so I am thinking of ripping them off).

I think the jib boom is the right way round, but the sheeting system is definately odd, as it seems to give a movable fulcrum.

If done properly, it's probably one of the best means of improving the performance of a kit boat. The panels allow curvature to be built in in 3D; like the shape of a football is made from individual panels of flat leather.
The effect is most noticeable on full-sized square riggers.

I don't notice an improvement in the performance (but I think that is my skill level)
Does the panelling make it easier to identify? Is there a specific company that makes kit boats with panelled sails?

I can't think of any kit boats supplied with panelled sails as standard; the marketing department usually baulks at the extra cost. I'd guess that it was fitted at a later date.
Anyhow, if you can get it sailing, it should give you years of enjoyment.
If you're looking for help in setting it up and sailing, most one-desgn classes such as the Victoria, Seawind etc. have web sites that give a lot of generic information or you can ask here.
