Default Exponential ? ? ?

This question comes from a real newbie who has a real need to know. In as much detail as possable, please explain to me exactly what exponential is, and what can I expect to see and feel, if the difference is 25% as compared to 50% ? What will the stick feel like, and what will the control surfaces behave like ?

Thank you .

Ed

most people I know set up the radio so that the sticks are less sensitve around center.. it makes most people fly a little smoother....it all depends on how you set the expo up.

I'm flying a warplane, so how much exponential should I add when I activate my low rate switch for landing ? I go to low rates to also smooth out my landings, but I still tend to over control.

Thank you .

The number is a totally subjective thing, depending on how comfortable you are with your flight skills and the airplane. I would start with, say, 25% expo on the ailerons and then fly the airplane, just to get a feel for what expo really feels like. Then you can adjust it as you like.

You probably already know this (from reading the manual, right??) but if you are flying a Futaba radio, the expo should be a negative number to soften the feel around neutral. If you are flying JR, the number should be positive.

Just my $.02,

Bob

" most people I know set up the radio so that the sticks are less sensitve around center "

So would 50% make the elevatot stick for example, less sensitive then 25% ? Would I need to move the stick further at 50% for full control ?

You have to use past experience on how much you like and how good your reflexes are. It depends on the exact plane. It is usually is set so the plane does not respond as fast when the stick is moved the first part of its movement but when you move the stick a bunch it moves a lot.

Personally I HATE high and low rates, and never use it, I set everything up expo..the same on high and low.

Yes, but it will increase sensitivity above normal for the second half.
