Glad you didn't have to re-do again. Wouldn't be the end of the world, but your going so good I'd hate to see you loose steam now.

LOL! Thanks Steve. But if worse came to worse I could have used some MEK to wipe it all off, literally. But, yea, I am happy it worked out for the best under the circumstances. Did not get any tapes laid tonight, just to tired from all the rubbing of the Goo Gone. But bright and early tomorrow!!!

I want the little added strength that fiberglass provides it was also something I never used before and wanted to try. I have several places close by I should be able to find the tape. Thanks again! I'm glad to hear the adhesive problem has been solved! Full speed ahead!

Thanks guys. The adhesive area as well as the two spots of overspray has been wet sanded and is ready for tape. But first I have to lay up the star template in it's numerous layers. In the mean time the fuse just received it's last coat of blue. I will unmask it, from the time of this post, in thirty minutes.

Here is a two tone Pitts. Unfortunately that will be it for the day as rain is setting in and I have to close the window.

Holy smokes WOW!!!!

Man I am going to have to use this method. Think it will work as good with different paints such as Butyrate doped and store paints like rustoleum?

Thanks guys. A bit of advice if one is going to try the vinyl, do a test piece with your paint prior to applying the vinyl to the airframe.
Well! When I say I'm done, it's usually just that part. As is with this painting, I am done "painting" for the day. In the mean time I have cut the top wings center star out of some extra vinyl with exception of the very center one. It is to so small I decided to use one of the already cut vinyl stars to go there and have already painted it, see pic. I can also work on taping up the top wing to re-spray the white and the star.

The top of the top wing has been taped off with the T/E as an exception. It was touched up earlier when the fuse was sprayed with the blue. It will get tape just prior to the, brighten it up a bit, coat of white in the morning.

Hey guys, I need some opinions on a detail. In the pic at the rudder you can see something black. The plane has some sort of gap filler the rudder and elevator joint. I am thinking of painting the L/E of the rud/ele and the T/E of the stab/fin black to simulate this filler. The only issue is when on the ground and the surfaces are not in a neutral setting the black will be offset a little, of which I don't think would be much.
What do you guys think about painting this?

Hmmmm. Ask me if I like vinyl? A nice shiny clear coat is all that's left for them.

I say go for it. You got every other detail, right? On the ground people who see it will be in such awe at the sight of it that no one would notice, or care.

You are Nailing this complex paint scheme . Looking fantastic.

As far as the tail. How about black rubber molding after paint. Like aileron shrouds only made from black rubber. Look would be the same regardless off tail fin angle.

Thanks guys.
If I had of made the tail surface hinged per scale that would work great. But they are not and with deflection come compression of any material that would be in there.

Ace does the model have any gaps at the hing line, or are they tight fitting?... rather than painting "simulated" hing gap fillers, why not use a lightweight black foam like weather stripping; not the neoprene foam type (that stuff is too dense)... but they make a very soft foam weather strip that is easily compressed... you could cut thin strips and glue them to the hing line face on the horizontal stab side before you assemble the elevators to their hinges... I don't think there will be any noticeable resistance, as the elevator moment at the hing line is very small... you could even glue them on the elevator side instead to lessen any resistance caused by the elevator movement... you would get more of a compression effect if glued to the stab side... and more of rotational effect if glued to the elevator side.. if you follow.

Same for the rudder of course.
