Default What paint for dummy engine?

What sort of paint should I use on a William's Brother dummy engine. Should I just be painting it with normal enamals and then put on a coat of clear fuel proofing. Ditto on the machine gun and pilot? Thanks.

You have the method. Use enamels and then when they are fully dry (24-36 hrs) spray on a coat of satin fuel proofer. I have used this method for years with success. I use Testors and Pactra, but any enamel suitable for use on plastic models will do. Happy landings, Tony.

I just re read your post and there is an exception. My reply was based on the pilot figure being made of styrene plastic. ex- a Williams bros. pilot. If the pilot is made of latex you must use an acryllic latex paint. If enamel is used on a latex surface it will take forever to dry, and I do mean forever. [] What I do in this case is I use an acrlyyic latex base coat (light grey) and allow that to dry 24-48 hrs. When that is completely dry I use enamels. Another way to handle it is to use all acryllic latex paint, but that means having all the colors in both enamel and latex.
Happy landings, Tony.

I use Model Master enamels and Tamiya acrylics. Usually I base coat in acrylic and do washes and dry-brushing with enamels. Model Master metalizers are awesome too, but they should be airbrushed.

If I put the dummy on a flying model, I clear coat it with HobbyPoxy using about 70/30 gloss to flat hardener. Spray mist coats because it will eat the paint underneath. Once it's hardened it is fuel proof.
