Hi all, i am looking to build a scale aircraft, and have a few questions. When finishing the plane after it has been built, how do you get the realistic paint schem with such detail to make it look good. second how do you get the guns and other acc. to look good. if anybody could share these tips, it would be a big help thanks, another thing which millitary kit would be a good choice.

Hello,
Welcome. There are heaps of ways to get that scale paint job. There are so many ways to paint these things but the most popular way i seem to find is using latex paint. I guess the main thing about getting a paint job looking good is studying a hell of a lot of photos and taking notice of how the weathering, wear and tear etc takes place.
With my experience with painting smaller a/c drybrushing is a good way to get the acc's looking authentic.
I would do a search on the forums for finshing and things like that and here are a few sites that may help ya.

Tom's fantastic site documenting his build of his award-winning SBD Dauntless has just about the greatest density of RC modeling "secrets" of any site around. If this was a book, I'd buy it! Hear that Tom!

The other truism for WWII birds (and later) seems to be that the finish is only as good as what's under it. With WWI subjects, I'd alter that to beauty is more than skin deep.
