RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Test flight of the AZ D VII went awsome, Plane flew grreat. A littlie under powewred but real nice flyer. Take off is in about 45 feet and. A very gentle flyer and smooth. Taking off from hard top does pose a few problems with a tail skid, but handled it good. It flew 4 times and wiith no ill effect. have to be careful on landing, a stall is prefered likes to nose over even with full deflection so a 3 point is the best. Other wise wow.

This is the web site url for Az. http://www.arizonamodels.com/ They have great kits that are on the upper end. Cost a little more but well worth it.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Les,
Just got in from mounting machine guns. Congratulations! Good to hear the first flights went well. I bet it looked super in the air. Got any flight shots?
BTW,I've read that if you use the carb from a Quadra 50, the power of the 41 goes up.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Did you check out the site yet. I have ordered the Alb. D Va from them. I just recieved the 1/4 pilot from them and looks great. Will take pics and post. Will be putting in scale cockpit tonight for fridays show. I will be changing props to a 18-8 or 18-10 for a little more speed and power. It has enough to fly byut hard pressed for loops or rolls with out a dive included. It was radered at 43 mph with the wind and aganist 35 mph. Pretty close to scale speed into the wind. After this weekend the Balsa USA D VII comes back out for the winter project along with the D Va. So many projects so little time.

Les, can you post some pictures of the Albatross after you receive it? I heard they sell the ARF, but never saw one, nor do they have anything about it on their website.
Thnx

Well, I am too busy to build a lot this winter. I am contmeplating the purchase of the DVII or the Albatross from Arizona Models. I have seen their Fokker, and it is great. I have never seen their Albatross. The Albatross is a beautiful plane. I hope you post here what you think when it arrives... I just cannot believe Arizona does not post on their site pictures of all the ARFs they sell...

I should say that I ordered the ARC as they do not make the Alb. in ARF version. They just tested the ARC version just awhile back. So it is brand new and just offered so I am told. I plane on using the new Evelotion 35 for it. I am also looking at replacing my US 41 with the new Fuji 32 EI seems to handle a bigger prop and more rpm.
But it sure flies great.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Not meaning to get off subject, but I did a lookup on the FUGI 32. I wonder why they would name an engine '32', when it is 43cc? I couldn't figure out why you'd downsize the engine so that is why I looked. Obviouisly, you are not downsizing at all. I'd like to find out just out of curiousity.
BTW, I have my BUSA D7 covered, and am doing some final tweaks prior to test flight. It is powered with a G-38.
It will be finished in a Jasta 18 scheme that is Red wings top and bottom, white on the rear half fuselage, stabilizer and elevator white and sky blue stripes, with sky blue stripes on the fuselage longerons. You are the Jasta leader though.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
For some reason I have a thing for the Raben symbol. My Balsa USA Dr. 1 is done up in Lt. August Raben while in Jasta 12 and then when he was in command of Jasta 18. I had thought of doing the Alb. D Va in Jasta 18 colors, but have decided to Jasta 5 Green tails. One flown by the commander then by Flasher but changed into Hippels hands when he took over. It has been refered to Von Hippels Dragon. I will post pics if them in a day or two. My Balsa USA D VII, I will finish this year hopfully to test fly in the spring. Amoung my other projects. The color of the plane is undecided but looking towards Lothar Richtthofen fokker yellow and red with lonzenge wings. I will be using a GTM scale cockpit for the plane and the Balsa USA gun kits.
He provides some really good detail in short order with out a ton of work. All my fokkers have them. I have also ordered the Fokker D VI from him and awaiting the kit with a little puddle of drool forming. My work room is almost ready for the building season tons of work and a short time to get there.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
I went back to the Tower site. I think they have the tech notes for the 43EI listed in the 34EI. What do you think?
Del, Are you flying your D8 now? If so, how do you like it?

That is why I ordered it, I was parked next to him and loved the way it flew. I plan on attending the next one. the cost this year to go down was pretty high. I took my pop-up trailer with all planes in it and had a ball. Accordeing to Glenn his strruts were to short and is in the process of inlarging them.
looking forward to building it and flying it.
And also took pics of the D VII wing that was mulit colored very impressive

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
We're going to do the test flight with the new wing on it
in about 3 hours
The 160 twin seems a lot stronger than the 170 3cyl, so hopefully
we won't have any power issues this time

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Here is my BUSA D7 'on the wheels'. Since this shot I've painted the cowl, sub-wing, and sub-cowl (not shown). I'm getting closer.
My scheme will be of the same Jasta as Les's, but a lowly flight Lt. Similar scheme, only Red on top and bottom of the wings, the white fuse starts at mid-cockpit, and the white rear fuse is bordered by sky-blue on the corners. The top and bottom of the horizonatl stab/ele are white and sky-blue stripes. Fin is outlined in sky-blue too. Had to get some color in there somehow.

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
Thanks Les. I'm beginning to get the 'itch' as it gets closer. I'm going to the Jacksonville Warbirds meet this month. I don't believe I'll have it ready by then, but maybe test flown. It's tough not rushing the final stages.
I looked for the info you referred to, but my inbox and email don't show anything. ?

RE: BUSA Fokker DVII
I sent the email in a PM to you. Thanks for the effort.
I did a preliminary CG check, and it looks like I'm in the neighborhood. Of course, this is without the mandantory pilot. Every ounce of pilot is going to cost me about 1.75 ounces of nose weight. I may have to learn to sew helium. LOL.
It does not feel like it weighs 20 pounds, but I've been wrong about that stuff before.
The tail is all pull-pull, and I am going to try and go very light on the paint back there. I am using Model Masters Enamel. It is pretty light stuff. The covering is a base of White Solartex. Painted surfaces are White Industrial Rustoelum Enamel. Great stuff, but only available in about six colors.
