Default scale props

my 1/8th Typhoon would take a 22 inch 3 blade prop to be static scale.

where can you get a prop this big,? i am afraid to ask.

MY estimates come up with a 14 foot prop circle on the real plane

i thought the corsair had the biggest prop . the propage on this phoon
is hemungus

in the real pictures the blade tips are almost inline with the bottoms of the gear doors.

arrrrggghhh !!!!!!

thanks

dan

There is a site that has a selection of static blades. can't find it yet, but will post it as soon as I find it again.

For my 1/5 scale 109 I made my own static and flying (almost there0 set.

I have cast polyurethane blades for the Brian Taylor Typhoon, diameter right around 22-24 inches if I recall. I also have a vac formed plastic spinner dome for static to go with it if you are building the Taylor airplane. Here's one of my props on customer Chris Rebidoux's Tiffie.

"Solo" props makes an excellent 3-blade prop in the size you need. Very scale looking - quite expensive. Pitch is variable - make it what you want it to be.

The B-29 had an 18 foot prop arc (P&W R2800 engines, same as Corsair, but I think Corsair had smaller prop.

Sorry khodges, but the Superfort used the R3350 rather than the R2800 which helps to explain the larger prop diameter.

Here in europe with the upcoming turboprop model turbines also constant speed props with in flight adjustable pitch are coming out. Check www.jetpower.at and its US-site. As far as I remember those guys can help you and I guess that props even work on piston engines.

Dan, let me check and see what I've got left. I used to make a hub for the blades to plug into but I'm not sure if I have any left. I will be out at my shop tomorrow night and I'll take a look. I know I have the blades and I can form a spinner pretty quick. Drop me a note at [email protected] and we can discuss prices. Thanks, Chad.

Imagine my surprise to find a picture of my Tiffie.....not posted by me!![8D] Dan, I can vouch for Chad's work, very nice stuff!! Especially if you go to Aviall.com and order the flat black epoxy propeller paint, sprays up beautifully!!
