Looking for a WACO kit

Thanks Fred.
It was a beautiful wedding, taking place on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Engine size depends on the type of flying that you do. I've seen the 1/5 scale fly well with a Saito 120. It would fly in a scale like manor. The owner didn't like it's perfomance. He put in a G23, which he liked better.
Mine is the 1/6 scale. I have an OS 91FS in it.

The plane will fly fine on an OS 108. or an OS 120 size 2 stroker. If you want a Jimmy Franklin type flight then yes, you will probably need more power. But with the aforementioned engines the plane will do loops, stall turns, etc. The Army used them during WWII as a trainer along side the Stearman. They were designed for mild aerobatics.

You are going to like the way the Waco flies. It's a very good flying plane. No.. its not a Pitts but you didn't buy that kind of plane in the first place. The Waco can be built as a nice sport plane or.. with a little work.. made to be very scale. The outline from what I remember is pretty accurate. Have a look in http://www.RCSCALEBUILDER.COM ,forums, Kits, Pica and you'll see some Waco's under construction, enjoy.

I have a built but never flown Pica Waco. The small one that takes a 90-4 stroke. The span is 60" I believe.
I'd consider selling it but it won't be a "give away."
It can be seen at this URL

That's the only photo I have of it on line.

i have to admit the pica waco is my favorite flying plane of all time. yes its not a beginners build, it does NOT build like a stick type airplane, much more to it, takes a bit to get the wings right. but if its built right, straight and true, a 1/5 scale one will weigh around 10 lbs with monocote and with a o.s 1.08 flys great, take offs if its balls to the wall will be off the ground in no more then 10' and will fly so slow on landing people watching will wonder if it will ever stop flying and settle in. yet will do loops, rolls and my favorite is a inverted flat spin. i have had 3 of them and people keep talking me into selling them. i have decided to build a 1/4 scale and THIS time i WONT sell it!!!!

Hey guys, noticed your thread, thought I might share a pic of my 1/5 Pica Waco that I've been flying in Masters competition for the past number of years. (Actually retired it this year, hopefully the new project will be ready for the competition season. 15lbs, DuPont base coat clear coat with Sims primer (Not a crack in the paint. was painted in 96.) OS 160 flat twin flys it very nicely. Due to trying to keep as scale as possible, some attachment points etc are not overly built, so I don't get to carried away with it. But it loop and rool just fine.
Away have fun building and flying those Wacos.

I am finally getting around to finishing a pica 1/5 waco kit, and when I saw your pix, I thought I was looking at mine. Yours shines more than mine thou because I used dope as a finish. I have an OS 120 for power. When I get some pix I'll Post them. There are pix posted in one of these threads of it half built, but I can't remember where

I just received an e-mail from a gentleman who is with Cox. I tried to purchase the rights for the YMF 3/5 from them. He stated that they would not be interested in selling off any of the kit rights. He stated that approximately 3-4 PICA designs would be unveiled at Toledo this year, and speculated that the YMF might be one of them. He went on to say that priduction might be as long as a year away. This is not an exact quote, but rather is a synapsis of his e-mail.
