OK ya'll ... here's the scoop. I am designing my own version of the Gee Bee "Y" Model Senior Sportster. I am looking at about 1/5 scale which should give me a a wing area between 850 sqin and 900 sqin. Wiht a plane that size i would expect that the final weight should be somewhere around 11 - 12 pounds. Ay firat I was considering the Saito 100Ti (V twin). But after careful examination, that engine (in my mind) is not robust enough. That engine weighs some 39oz and only delivers 1.4HP. Looking at the other 4-stroke options I find the Saito FA-91 and the Saito FA-100 to be extremely close in specs. They both weigh about 19 oz and deliver between 1.6HP and 1.8HP. Considering the 2 engines are so close ... which one (from your experience) would be the wiser choice?
