we are trying to set up these to be available as ARF but need to firm up demand.
Would anyone be interested in a pre order at less than retail prices?
estimates are under $100US.
the first model may be the fokker dviii.
we can take requests though.
hopefully we will have at least 6 planes available within a short timeframe dependent on demand.
Please let us know.
Cheers,
Tim

What in the world are you talking about. You need to provide a lot more coherent information, some pictures and stats, etc.

simple as that.
are you interested?...i know i would love to see them in ARF form after having built 3 from kits.

I believe Tim is going to try and make Peter Rake ARF"s availabe in OZ if they can get enough pre-orders.. At least that's the way I read it.

that's fine. But how about a link to some place we can see these Peter Rate planes. I've searched all over and found a couple of non-functional links. RC Groups has some threads on Rake kit builds. The ones I found were for smaller planes. Some info on the size of plane you are talking about would be critical. The world cries out for some 1/4 size ARF WWI warbirds.

K&W do a while range of museum quality 1/5th scale ww1 types and shipping is horrendous to anywhere.
1/4 scale would be even worse. i dont think the world cries out for them actually. the idea for WW distribution is being able to make it logistically possible. Electric also gets quite expensive at those larger scales so immediately your demographic dwindles to a feasibility assessment.
Actually i guess my post was more directed at PR followers as they know of his achievements- my apologies.
Antoehr place you might want to checkout is arizona model aircrafters for larger scale e ww1 types.
generally kits are better for the larger scales IMO. easier to build, can be shipped economically and reasonably priced. Because of being kits they dont suffer as directly to the other aspects of distribution.

Peter Rake is a well-known contributer to the British mag Flying Scale Models. For the most part these are a fun "free pullout plan" style of model in smaller scales for electric. At least that what I've seen. I think "fun" is the key word here. The models I've seen (in photos in the mags) are not serious scale models but rather designed to capture the"spirit" of the aircraft in a simple to build, lightweight form.
He seems to have quite a following though (not least of all for the pleasant banter of his articles) and people seem to jump at a change to build prototypes of his plans. I'd imagine there would be a fair market of "fun scale" WWI ARFs in the 1/6 scale size for gas and maybe smaller for electric. Around $100 (US or OZ dollars?) sounds like a fair-dinkum price.
Do you a specific list of models you might be doing?

thanks for the reply. we are talking $US.
but i think that perhaps some of the free plans arent the ones he sells...i could be wrong there.
they are designed to be easy to build so there are compromises, but they are also designed to be scale.
for instance which way do you go for a plane with wing warping?....do ailerons? or R/E and use dihedral?
that kinda compromise.
the scale buffs havea solid platform to add their details.
here's my castaibert i built earlier this year...
pretty scale i reckon.
and the duigan also...

Here's a nice build thread of an FE8 "prototype" from Pete Rake plans:

One nice thing about the approach to scale modeling taken by Peter Rake (and others) is that you get to build half a dozen or more models a year so you can afford to do some odder beasts. I figure I'm lucky to finish one a year so I have to choose carefully!
