RE: Best scale photo!
Both great shots. I especially like the non-standard observer stance in the RE-8. Very convincing...at least from this angle it looks like he's fussing with somthing in his gunnery seat...very cool. Only one critique I can think of that would sell that shot for me more, or put it over the top: I looked at it for a while, and still couldn't tell what was catching my eye and saying, "this is still a model", then I got it. The whole plane looks "too clean". If there were some weathering, smudges/streaks...some weathered lettering...anything to get it from the pristine "clean fresh painted look", would be a master stroke. VERY WELL DONE though nonetheless!

Classic case of 'the camera never lies but it tells a lot of half truths'. In reality the model is very tatty and realistic. The camera just glosses over the blemishs

RE: Best scale photo!
I've got a few photos. I didnt build the model I bought it off ebay, where allegedly it had flown and flew nice - lying B****d it had never flown - i know this for a fact. She is now in pieces.
Moral of the story is never buy a model, particularly a scale model, unless you've seen it fly. People who build nice looking models dont necessarily build nice flying models. e.g. among the catalogue of errors on the RE8 to the very comprehensive plan that came with it. Was horizontal stabilizer out 5 degrees, no dihedral at all (although given in the plan), scale elevator linkages that broke (but they looked just right) a totally inappropriate engine. blah blah blah. Annoying thing was after several flights I had ironed out most of the worst of it, down trim, re-rigged the whole thing to give dihedral and it was flying really nice.
I have complete confidence in the plan and at some stage, one day, possibly, maybe, a definite maybe, intended to build from the plan - I have all the scale fittings etc from my wreck. I do have complete confidence in the plan, i'll get it out and find out who it's by.
Very nice aeroplane (when made according to the plan)

RE: Best scale photo!
Hi Cam, no the Avenger is totaly scratch built. If you like when it is next flown, would you like some close up shots of some of scale detail.

Hi Jugman,
Yep, I'd love to see some more details of that plane. They're a great warbird - shame they get overlooked by most manufacturers.
Thanks,
Cam
