My point is that even an stand-off scale model can be photographed in a way that will fool 99% of the people.

IMO ... the image (puppeteer) is not sharp in focus. The jenny is great.

The focus is fine, but this is a tight crop of a shot done at 400 ASA so the detail is inherently limited. There may also be some degree of motion blur since the sky was dark and the shutter speed slower than I'd have liked. The annoying thing about flying one's own model is that you don't also get to photograph it! I'm hoping that on subsequent flights I'll be able to find some more dramatic weather and also someone with better photographic skills. I literally had to show the guy who took this photo where the shutter button was on my D200 and how to hold the camera! But, you know, for all it's faults, I think it has a lot of atmosphere.

A agree that the Jenny photo is technically (and aesthetically) superb.

Electrics make it easy to not have motor parts hanging out. If you don't care for any of these Please just let me know and I can remove them no problem. I want to join in but want to follow the rules too.

The view from our flying spot is great. Up in Costa Mesa it is the high area you can see everything.

I like the second one of the two WWI models in the air and also the Mustang. On the others I'm a bit distracted by the "worms-eye-view." These might look a bit more realistic if the camera were actually raised up a bit to simulate human height.

PS. Can you ACTUALLY see the mountains from Huntington Beach?

Like that last Mustang shot. Once I get past the 2-blade, it is working quite well. The early morning (or late afternoon) light has added a ton to this shot also.

Hmm...I would have said: "Somebody likes WWI aircraft." And of my models "made the grade." [] But I will add that I like the idea of turning this thread into a YouTube video. What I'd really like to see, though, is ever photo posted (good and bad) quickly flashed on the screen at a rate of maybe 1 photo per second with none of the slow zoom ins or pan. Just a quick blast of all the photos so far. That would be cool to be able to see all the photos so far in a couple of minutes.

I guess what I expected to see was the best of the photos from this thread. Or the best of the photos that actually make the grade in this thread.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the video, but saw a lot of images that don't represent the best of this thread. And there was a pic of one of my models in there Abu...but I don't think it belonged either.
GP Lancair in stock blue and gold scheme with cylinder head hanging out of the cowl...yucky. But, there have been some great civilian aircraft posted here and I saw few of them. I noticed a few jets towards the end, but they were slimly represented also. Definitely an overwhelming number of WWI AC. That was my perception.

But I do appreciate your putting together the video and enjoyed watching it.

There's a film that was making the rounds in schools for years and years called something like the "History of Art in 2 minutes." During those 2 (or maybe it was 3) minutes, there was just a constant flash of images. I don't think any image was on the screen for more than a second and it may been more like 2 or 3 images per second. But at the end, you really did feel like you'd "seen it all" and more importantly, good and bad included, you get a strong sense for what art was about.

That would be cool with this thread. Everything. Ever single photos. Good photos. Bad photos. Everything. Just blasted at us. Obviously the hardest part of this project would just be going through each page of the thread to download all the photos.

Definitely NOT my perception. But then, there are NEVER enough WWI models for my tastes! BTW, isn't there really only just ONE jet model, with a few variations on it?

I would have prefered two 6 minute videos. I watched it all and really liked all of the content. Just too long for one sitting. Just my $1.00 worth.

I too would like to see a photo blitz movie. You can set the time on imported images to be 1/2 second and then import the entire folder. But, as Abu (the WWI zealot) mentioned, the downloading of all the images is the PITA part.
120 images per minute times 4 min. Heck, you only have to download 500 images Wonder how many total images have been uploaded to this thread?
Again, thanks for your effort.
