Default RE: I've tried

Matt, I was wondering who mad CFT's for the E model Airmagic and was going to call you on it, but decided I had better find the pic on the net first (as I recall seeing that pic when doing our Avonds)...couldn't find it and got involved in other projects.
Ya got away with one this time.

Here's a truly scale photo, submitted over on the 'in the air' thread, by new member Gaui, from Iceland.

This beautiful 1/2 scale DH88 Comet, owned by UK modeler Steve Holland, is actually beginning it's takeoff on his club's scale runway, so the setting is as perfect as it gets.

Thanks, Gaui. Do you have any more closeups of Steve's Comet?

Just adding new member dougimes' photo of his 1/5th scale Grumman Wildcat.

Nicely detailed, especially with the pilot looking directly at the camera!

I don't know about his pilot Joe, but he posted in at #21, in the current Grumman Wildcat F4 F-3 thread running a bit lower on this page.

Check it out and PM him, if you want.

Here's an interesting amphibious shot, with almost scale ripples!

Here are some nice scale shots taken from the www.skysharkrc.com site, among their catalog shots.

Warbirds look very aggressive from this low photo angle.

Thanks, Gaui.

That is one incredible aircraft!

You've got some great shots there.

Here's a good scale shot of DeanRCU's Ziroli Ercoupe, from the Ercoupe thread. Looks like you could just climb right in.....

Beautiful models Dean.
What's the covering on the Ercoupe...FlightMetal, Metalkote, aluminum tape?
Is that a flying or static prop on the T-28?
Nice work.

Thanks. The covering on the Aircoupe is Flite metal and the prop is for Static display only.

I think some people are posting non-scale pictures in this thread just to get a reaction from the purists.

this one is actually real !!!

While those are interesting photos, they're definitely non-scale photos!

The subject matter is a scale model, but the PHOTOS are NOT.

For these to be scale photos, you must take the photograph from the height of a scale person that matches the scale of the plane. Also, there must not be things in the background or foreground that are out of scale with the subject.

In other words, the model photo must give the overall impression of a photo of the same, full-sized aircraft.

Check below, to read some of the basic rules.

I guess now's a good time to re-post those photo guidelines...
I'll do this every now and then so everyone is up to speed.

The photos should be the following...

A) The aircraft modeled must be that of an actual aircraft.

B) The model should be a "SCALE" model.
meaning...
It should look like the aircraft that is being modeled. If the real plane had strut and wheel covers... so should the model(it should'nt have music wire struts). There should be no rx antennas showing in the photo. If the real plane had a 3 or 4 blade prop, and this is a picture of that plane(model) on the ground? Then the model should have a 3 or 4 blade prop, not a Zinger 20x10. etc...etc.

Think of this as a kind of "Top Gun" of photo threads.

And finally, that brings us to the most confusing of the guidelines of the photo.
...C) The photo should be "of an angle that you would actually be photographing the real aircraft" or "as the eye perceives it"
...meaning...Don't post the picture of that beautiful Mustang with a guy holding it during engine run ups.
OR
Don't stand on top of the model to photograph it.
REMEMBER... "AS THE EYE SEES IT"

Thanks to all for participating...it's going great.
