RE: Best scale photo!
There are some outstanding models and some spectacular photos in this thread!!! Good idea, Mustang51!! [sm=sunsmiley.gif].
Choosing favorites was difficult. In the spirit of the thread, I applied the "5 second rule" - If I couldn't tell it was a picture of a model in 5 seconds (my usual attention span ) , or the pic was just too cool, it made the list, and I tended to include pictures that I thought were visually most interesting.
Drumroll, please...... My favorites are - in no particular order
Jetwrench's inflight Cub,
SDCrashmaster's fantastic Cessna 182 Skylane - I still think he shrunk the real airplane
Viper1's P-51
Bluenoser's P-51 (notwithstanding the pilot clearly violating the "no smoking within 50 feet" rule )
whalecrew's F-4 and CF-18
Juice's F/A-18
Flicka5's Sunderland
madmax's PT-19
SDCrashmaster's excelent Photoshop manipulation of the F-16.
uncljoe's F4D shedding tanks
No prizes other than my appreciation for the modeler's and photographer's art!!
Congratulations to all the builders and photographers - hope to add to this thread after the winter building session!

Two thumbs (and big toes) up!!!

RE: Best scale photo!
C'mon Jimmboo... you mean to tell me that my 190 doesn't rate???
To each ... Their own...
Thanks for your input.
And once again for those "tuning-in" late...
The idea of this thread is as follows...
I guess now's a good time to re-post those photo guidelines...
I'll do this every now and then so everyone is up to speed.
The photos should be the following...
A) The aircraft modeled must be that of an actual aircraft.
B) The model should be a "SCALE" model.
meaning...
It should look like the aircraft that is being modeled. If the real plane had strut and wheel covers... so should the model(it should'nt have music wire struts). There should be no rx antennas showing in the photo. If the real plane had a 3 or 4 blade prop, and this is a picture of that plane(model) on the ground? Then the model should have a 3 or 4 blade prop, not a Zinger 20x10. etc...etc.
Think of this as a kind of "Top Gun" of photo threads.
And finally, that brings us to the most confusing of the requirements of the photo.
...C) The photo should be "of an angle that you would actually be photographing the real aircraft" or "as the eye perceives it"
...meaning...Don't post the picture of that beautiful Mustang with a guy holding it during engine run ups.
Thanks to all for participating...it's going great.

A couple of my favorites from this year's flying.......
First image is a couple of Balsa USA 1/5 scale Fokker Eindeckers "patroling".
Second image is a Balsa USA 1/4 Sopwith Pup in hot pursuit of an Eindecker.
The third is a little "Fun with Photoshop" "Beware of the Hun in the sun!"

Mustang 51,
I just have to tell you that the Mustang that you did a very great job on building the model if you were the one who build it. I was wondering what are the specs of the Mustang. You know, wingspan, engine used, what it's build from, paint, and other detail that you couldn't see in the many great pictures, ummmm..........what else. And I guess any other thing that I didn't ask that you think I would like to know. By the way, I showed that picture to my mom, and she really thought that that was the real plane. Plus the dummy on the ground. The made it look even better. Thanks

RE: Best scale photo!
On post No. 69, I don't know if I have the same plane, but I just went to a fly-in at YORK COUNTY FLYERS. I took a picture of the exact same plane that is on post 69. I looked at the picture that i have and the numbers on the back of the plane match up on both (the on that i took and the one on this thread.) So, are you the guy who has a B-25. If you do then you are the same guy that was at the same fly in that I went to. You have a great plane there that you built........

Mustang51 -
No accounting for personal taste, I guess
Besides, wouldn't want to be accused of brown nosing the thread genarator, would I? [sm=lol.gif]
The best thing is that I found ALL the entries inspiring enough to get off my butt and order a Skyshark TBM as a winter (such as it is in California) project. You can even the score when I finish it!
Great job on the thread!
Best,
Jim
