RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Thanks Gary,
Every now and then the wife really surprises me. If it wasn't for her I probably would not have rebuilt the Waco, it is her favorite plane. She was not happy when I crashed it. She told me no new planes until the Waco is rebuilt, just didn't think she would go buy me one.

Happy Birthday Anthony, you are indeed fortunate to be blessed with a good woman...
That's cool that we will be both building the same plane in different scales!

Thanks VJ,
After 23yrs I think I am stuck with her
I have to do a little bit of research, the instructions show a G-38, I have a DL-50 on the shelf I would like to shoehorn in there. If not I guess I can buy another engine. Gotta get the Waco done before I think too much about the Spacewalker.

I am going to finish the aileron's tonight if it kills me
We got a new member of the family today, a male Cocker Spaniel puppy. He was born on January 1st. He had to catch a Delta flight to get here from the breeder and he is a bit tuckered out and taking a nap.
We had another Cocker that we had to put to sleep at the ripe old age of 17 a few years ago and the wife decided it was time to get another one. I will see if the pic post will let me upload a pic of the puppy.
Later!!

Hey Anthony, I forgot that you were a leap year child. Happy birthday! And, compared to Robert and I (at least) you are young! Better yet to be young at heart!
Looking forward to all the pics!
Take care,
David

Thanks David,
I have the aileron's finished finally. The plastic turned out nice. I can now move on to other things. I need to build new "N" struts so I will assemble the plane this weekend and get that task completed. Hopefully by then they will have the pic post fixed.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
I have been working on the struts, after another good look at the old struts I decided to just repair the ends and reuse them. I tested them for fit and all is well. I will have to pick up some micro-ballons to finish off the repair. Now I need to work on smoothing up the joint lines on the new cowling. I also need to build new windscreen frames for both cockpits. If all goes well I will have the Waco ready for primer next weekend.
I wish RCU would get the picture posting issue resolved once and for all, this is really getting old.

That it is, even after several years it still makes me saw WOW when it is all assembled. I can't even imagine how massive the 40% Waco is.
I had enough micro-ballons left over to repair the strut ends and they have been primered. About the only thing left to do before spraying primer is to work out the cowl mounting. I will get that figured out and start cleaning up the hobby room and switch over to painting mode.
I do need to strip the paint from the landing gear and the bottom wing center section as well. Should not take too much effort to get them ready for primer. I hope to have the plane in primer next weekend. Then the job of putting all the rivets on the simulated fuel tank and the cowling will begin.

Thanks VJ,
The pup is really sweet, he loves people and all he wants to do is snuggle and play. I am sure the wife will spoil him rotten.

Very cute pup! I will say that my second Cocker ate the tail of my first RC plane, Jr Falcon just before the maiden. It did fly but to a 12 year old a tough blow. Careful with the chew toys.

If I pulled that at my house, I'd be sleeping in my trailer!

Yep on the dining room table and I had to wire tie the light fixture up to the ceiling to have enough room

TFF, The pup has more toys than he knows what to do with but still wants the wife slipper. No puppies around the planes for sure.
I have my room half way cleaned up. The cowl mounting blocks are drying and I will install them tomorrow and mount the cowl. Once that is complete I can finish cleaning up the room and get ready for spraying primer. I am anxious to see how the fabric job looks with some color on it.

Thanks David,
I am really anxious to get some color on it. I have the cowl mont blocks installed and drying. I will have to wait until tomorrow to drill the mounting holes for the cowl. I did spary the cowl with primer and found a couple areas at the seams that need attention with some spot filler.
I am going to work on sanding the wing panels for the next couple of evenings as well. Getting closer.

Anthony, all the attention that you give it in prep work is going to pay off in spades when you put the paint on. I can't wait to see it in color!
