RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
I was really worried I would not get a nice finish, I am more then happy with the results. Now I can't wait to get the rest of the plane sanded and pinstriped.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Anthony,
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I have seen two real Waco's and I even been for a ride in one, and that cowl and wing center section look better than the real thing..................... Your skill and patients are going to reward you with a plane that is beyond belief.
Keep up the great work & take care,
David

Thanks Guys,
David you are too kind. I am happy with the way it looks. I flew in a WACO YMF-5D Super a few years ago, very nice ride indeed. A much nicer comfortable plane compared to the Stearman. It was also my wife's 1st and only plane ride. She is spoiled now and doesn't want to fly in anything but a WACO.
I sprayed the 2nd side of the tail surfaces and aileron's all is well with the clear so far. Tomorrow evening I will start sanding and masking the wing panels.
Later!!

Hey Anthony, come to think of it, David might be right. (I think we're getting too many Davids here! ) That might look TOO good to be realistic. You're going to have to dirty it up. And, ya know what, I just realized that I am building realistic. My Cub ain't gonna look half as nice as your Waco.

Scott you will be painting before you know it.
I don't think I will get much done tonight. Too tired. May get a wing panel sanded.
I did bring a stab and elevator up to get a good look at it in better lighting. Turned out nice.

Thanks David,
I didn't do any work to the Waco at all last night. Tonight I sanded and pinstriped the bottom wing panels. Tomorrow I will get them cleared.
After that not much more will happen until Sunday. I have a club meeting Thursday and I am heading to the Toldeo Weak Signals show on Saturday. I need to pick up a bunch of items for the Waco, servo's, servo leads, prop, smoke system, fuel dots, batteries etc: I see my wallet getting alot lighter this weekend

It's amazing how much money the small detais cost when you are putting the finishing touches on a plane. Wheather it's servo lead extensions, fuel dots, etc. Have fun at the Toledo show. I'm taking the night off myself as I'm bringing my Ryan to its first show...

I made it home from Toledo, I purchased most of what I need to get the Waco back in the air. I need to order material to build the flying wires.
I decided to wait on getting a smoke pump. Once I get the Waco flown and I get comfortable with it I will add the smoke system. After the 400 mile of driving today I am too pooped to work on the Waco. I will get a good nights sleep and start back on it tomorrow.

Well RCU is really screwing the pooch again on the server issues
I got an early start on spraying the clear on the wing panels. I have been spraying and moving the parts outside in the nice 75 deg day we are having here. It takes about 4 hours for the clear to dry enough to turn the parts over to spary the other side. I also cleared the fiberglass hood and the pant cuffs and one side of the struts.
I will start sanding the fuse tomorrow and get the pinstripe down so I can finish off spraying the clear.
Here are a few pics.

Within a week I should be able to start the final assembly of the Waco. Alot of tidbits to install.

Thanks VJ,
I just fininished installing the cockpit coaming around the rear cockpit. I used the same method as the 1st build. Red Vinyl over rubber hose. I will add stitching later. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Fuse is now ready for clear. With any Luck I will start installing the electronics and fuel system Thursday. I also ordered some Kevcord to make new flying wires.
I also need to paint all the screw heads for the diffent areas of the plane. I will get a count of each color and paint an extra 20 of each for spares.
