RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Go with the UPF, the YMF has been done many times in different sizes (some good, some not so good).
UPF - over 600 built, YMF and UMF combined - less than 40 original. Waco Classic Aircraft, 9 built to original spec, 27 built as Classics with shorter landing gear and 100 plus as Supers or Model Ds with the longer and wider fuselage.
The UPF has a totally different fuselage, wings (upper is flat), stabilizer has a recurve near the fuse and is thicker, vertical fin and rudder is taller and thicker with a different shape, landing gear is different (wider), and you can have a ring cowl (often removed in military service), bump cowl or smooth cowl.
The UPF has many color schemes to choose from. As a military trainer (blue and yellow), faux military (looks good but never were official) and many civilian schemes.
Can be modified with an enclosed rear cockpit and made into the YPF or ZPF. Eliminate the military spec notch in the wing center section and replace it with the civilian curved notch (only a few were made).
Just a note, IKon N'Wst has ceased opperations. They had a UPF, GXE/Model 10 and the Waco Taperwing.

It's going to be up to Lonnie to keep this thread moving along now.
I will post some pics of the Waco when I finish up the last of the little details I intend to add and Big_Bird will be shooting some quality video for me at Bomber Field. I am off to the basement to get my hobby room all cleaned up and ready for the next build.
I will start another thread for the new build one it hits the table.
Thanks to everyone for participating in the thread and offering suggestions and advice. All of this helps to keep my motivation going on the build. Also thanks to AMR for a great kit and the wonderful support thay have given me thru the build. It was a true pleasure.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Hey Anthony
I have really enjoyed the trip with you. I have learned a lot along the way. I agree with you about all the help from everyone. I will continue to post until I finish this beast.
I have been working on the dummy engine and the baffling for the DA-150. Here are some pictures of what I have gotten done now. Also starting to set up the controls and adjusting the radio to get the proper throws. Have some more work to do on the paint on the wings and some detailing on the dummy engine. Waiting on rivets to arrive so I can finish the front windshield.

Good looking dummy radial Lonnie. I hope you like the DA-150 as much as I like the one on our AMR Super Decathlon. We did a lot of prop testing and settled on the Mejzlik 32 x 10 for pull and quietness. I believe it is the quietest prop that I have ever run. I hate a loud prop that rips as it goes super sonic.

My 32x10 Xoar pulls like a mule but I am not sure about the nosie level as I don't really have a comparison. I am a redneck by heart so I like noise

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
The 32x10 Xoar was the first prop we used and it is now the backup prop. It was the best pulling of the wooden props that we tried. The Mejzlik 32x10 pulls equally as well (but is pricey) as the Xoar but is much quieter. I've seen several full scale Decathlons fly but never heard a loud one. My Ziroli Corsair was loud and I liked it that way.

I'll Keep my Xoar, Waco's are loud
No one can say they didn't hear it coming. Maybe try a Mejzlik on my next build.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Finished the scale exhausts today, more than happy wit how they came out. I had 4 sleeves turned to fit inside the bendy pipe which I silver soldered in place and after finding the right angles I silver soldered them to the exhaust boxes. The upper connection onto the exhaust ring just slides on with a tight fit so that they are still removeable. What do ya think?? PowerBox is setup as is the smoke pump, so tomorrow I will run the motor in the frame for the first time. Can't wait
The first 3 pix is of the full size( note the exhausts) I think I have them pretty close to looking real.

Hey Anthony/Everyone
I know you have been waiting to see what this thing looks like all in one piece. So tonight I assembled everything pretty much and took some pics. So I will show you what it looks like. Still have a lot of work to do but not as much as I did 18 months ago. I did not put the flying wires on. Didn't have time. If I get the chance I will put them on this weekend and post some more pics
