Take a look at Carl's website, he builds and flys these/those type of aircraft.
Do not see a L 188, but see a L 12 and others.

Way back about two years ago, this was asked, and only thing that could be found was one dressed up in WESTERN colors, and perhaps a controlliner on middle 1960's. Was one made in Cardstock during early 1970's but other then that Nothing. You could ask again at the Multi-engine forum again, but do not think anything recent has been found. I think that there have been kits and plans of the two engine version sold to the US Navy.
I used to see them fly into Palm Springs quite often.

Two engine L-188? I believe you must be thinking of the Lockheed Neptune, a completely different airplane. The P-3 has four enigines, just like the Electra it was developed from.

Electra L188a and C versions had Alison 501's fitted not T56's (that is a military engine,) also the Electra had either Hamilton Standard or Aeroresearch Props, the Ham Standards had rounded tips the Aeroresearch square tips. The Orion had Ham Standards fitted as "standard"
The Neptune originally had only 2 x Radials the jey engines were fitted later to some variants

@ Engined Electra was a twin engined (Pratt powered) passenger a/c made by Lockheed pre WW11. A good a/c round engines and its tail on the ground similar to the Beech 18

Here's a shot of Chris Starleaf's 40" electric free flight L-188 Electra. What a neat little Park Flyer this would make, along the lines of the GWS Cargotrans/C130. Russ Farris
Video of the Electra in flight - scroll down the page, it's under the L-188 picture http://www.ffscale.co.uk/page3ll.htm

Check it out, Carl Buchbaker has built and flown a Giant scale L-188 Electra! I saw it at Joe Nall but had to leave early, so I didn't get to see it fly. He did tell it was somewhat underpowered in the high heat of South Carolina but does fly very well. Russ Farris
