1/3 Vickers F.B.19 MKII

John I would still be suspicious of JB weld holding well in that high vibration area....keep an eye on that..I've seen the stuff crack and weaken on others planes.
Man that is the most gorgeous propeler....what a work of art indeed !

MD, Thanks for the concern. After the way my Aviatik hit the ground and did not break any of the J.B.Weld joints I have no hesitation to use it to hold the dummy engine in. Today was paint day for the Vickers. I am happy with the results I get with Behr latex. Some touch up but nothing major.

I have painted the roundels on the fuselage and am getting them dirty. I used self sticking shelving material to make the stencils. Paint from rattle cans was used in my air brush to control amount of paint used and prevent running. I am working on further weathering of the of the fuselage using carbon dust and watery wash. The PC12 edge has been added to the rudder as well. It all looks much better in person.

Thanks Jim, It was nice meeting you and seeing your beautiful Nieuport. Congrats on your WRAM results. Hope to see you at a flying field this spring/summer.

John, Vickers is looking very realistic with that weathering! I plan to make Long Island Dawn Patrol: 1-3 Aug timefreame. Will you be there?
After you fly at Rhinebeck, please consider a trip to VA Beach 1-5 October flying. Your F.B. 19 would like so sweet in the middle of these 1/3 models.

John, thanks for the correct color's for the british rudders back in post 185.
I repainted my 1/3 Pup and added some Faux weathering as the BUSA rudder structure does not match the real structure.
I used my wife's avon products of brown, black and rouse to highlight the weathering and then clear coat. Thanks again for ther help.

Hi Mike, thanks. I am sure Ron Preston will want to have the Vickers at the Long Island Dawn Patrol since it is his club's event. VA Beach sounds good as well. I'll have to see If I can get the time off from work since I work on weekends. I got me scale flying prop the other day from a guy in the Netherlands (Teus) who posts here as well. I will add the prop sticker and grey tips. Have a look. Cheers.

WOW nothing but WOW! I'm following Teus 1/3 eindecker build as well. He is a master. I have used his cockpit instrument pictures as well in my 1/4 warbirds (fokker D-VII and a friends SE-5a)
So that is a flying prop you plan to use? I just ordered a Xoar Schemitar for my pup 24-8 to try that combo on FPE 4.2 (69cc) I had planned to copy your admiralty prop decal and use it as well.

1/3 Vickers
I really like the prop and it was very reasonable. Teus did a great job coordinating everything with the guy who makes the props. Ron Preston and I have tested the G62 with Mick Reeves belt drive using a 30 x 12 Xoar and it worked very well. This scale prop is also 30 x 12 and has been tested in a 1/3 Camel using a G62 and Mick Reeves Belt drive with great results according to Teus. We shall see how it works with the Vickers.

Hi Mike, I am plugging along and should be able to start getting fabric on the wings soon. The gray I am using is Rust-oleum, Filler Primer #249279. Cheers.

Vickers FB 19 MKII
Just been looking over this old thread and noticed there were no photo's of the completed model so here it is. Still has not had a maiden.

John you and Ron should get together to maiden the Vickers this flying season. There`s a NASA Qualifier at Goshen, NY on July 22 and 23rd. The Black Dirt Squadron field has a lot of well maintained excellent grass area just like the LI Skyhawk`s field. Danny Carroza is the CD. With the Craftsmanship you put in your builds it`s worth just to show up with the Vickers- there is Team Scale I know it will earn a Trophy
