Thanks Tony, hope to see your Corsair here soon.(btw... it's looking awesome.)
These are some FANTASTIC shots you guys are turning in... keep em coming.
It's amazing to have to say that they are "just" models, and not the "real thing".
Maybe after we get enough shots, we can have a vote on the best one?

Here are two pics my wife took of my old Byron Corsair. I really liked how well the black and white images add to the realism.

DC,

You're right... I forgot WWII fighters were flown off of freshly mowed fields.
My apologies for not planting "scale" grass, or bringing my mower to the flying field just to prep for a photo.

The grass looks a bit long!

Woooa. kinda harsh (unless you were being saecastic)

Most model photos are shot impulsively, or unplanned. You just set them somewhere nice and shoot some pics.

As an art director on many photoshoots, planning for everything to get the best possible results is a must. And, I must say, that if you truly wanted to get the most convincing effect out of the shot, some clipping of the grass in the immediate area would have added quite a bit to the photo. But don't get me wrong, the photo is very nice. I enjoyed seeing it.

And since TMoth started these types of pics, I'll add a couple.

Thanks for the "back-up" SD Crashmaster.
Incidentally... for those of the "non-anully retentive" persuasion...
Things like scale of grass (or things we have little influence over), should be dis-regarded, less non of these pictures taken in grass would be acceptable. Lets keep it FUN... scale as we can... but fun.

Sokay! It was all I could find not-to-scale in the pic!

Great pic!

Anybody know where you can get quarter scale grass?

Now that looks good fly109 too bad its so hard to find anyone that makes nice planes like that in all built up plans for planes like that.

Yes that would be kinda neat. Only problem is the jet crowd wants models as complete as possibly and preferably without having to build from plans. Maybe someday:-)

ProfLooney 01-30-2003 02:46 AM

plans

Yes I agree but I look at it this way. Most places that do design prefabs have to draw out plans for them so for a little extra effort why not finish the cad drawings and sell them. you know most places would prob bring in more money offering both a built up and a prefab. it doesnt cost them anything to store the plans on a cd and as a order comes in just print it out. I think a lot of these places are missing a great opportunity on earning more income.

Joe
