Another option that master builder Don Coe use on this wing-warping AVRO is to actual cut and hinge the rear spar.

About 45 deg in total for the elevators and about 90 deg in total for the rudder.

Re the warping, you'll be surprised (as I was) to see how easily a wing warps. In mine instead of the twin 1/8" x 3/8" rear spars I just used the one. The wing section I undercambered by shallowly scalloping out between the two bottom spars. The rear spar was glued in in the normal way all the way out to the tips. Even covered there is no problem getting the required warp - using just a standard servo no less!

Do you recall if the shear webs ran out to the tips?

Very much so. The rigid front spar helps the effectiveness of the warp.

Hmm interesting.. I was thinking the webs would have gone maybe 1/2 way out to allow the twisting to be accomplished more easily. Sounds good... I'm looking forward to trying this. I need to figure how to make a scale pulley up on the pylon now.

What did you use for the cabling?

Plastic coated fishing trace. Remember only the rear wires go through the pulley!! :D
