Fishy...
There are some things to consider that will help you with deciding on a boat you will be happy with...
1.) The first being what type of price range are you looking at?
2.) Are you looking for a scale boat or a "speed boat"? Or even both..
3.) The Nitro comes with all of the tasks of fuel, oil and maintenance. While the electric is more user friendly. (the electric will keep your costs down)
4.) How are your building skills? (ie do you want to build a boat for a year or do you want to get a boat that is ready to run? Or somewhere in between?
Hope this helps...
Marty
PS. go to the Weak Signals show in Toledo!

i have a nitro car and a nitro sk daddle... so im familiar with nitro. i love the donzi, just dont ahve that kinda money... i dont want ready to run, but i would prefer it to not take a year to build. it would be nice if it went a "wee bit" fast but also have a somewhat scale appearance. i like wood boats, but would be happy with a figerglass hull, with wood cabin ,etc. thanks for the suggestions.. now, anyone have an actual boat to suggest? thanks...

What is your budget like?

It looks like a nice model but I do not have any experience with it. Not quite a scale boat in my opinion. It is a small boat with a small 4.8v motor. Personally I would loose interest in it after 10 min. It is not a big seller from Dumas. If you are interestd in a Dumas boat in the same price range I would recomend. The Dumas Coast Guard 40' It is a nice build but as with the Osprey you will have to plank the hull and fiberglass. Some peolple enjoy it and some people hate it.
Here is the info on the Osprey from Dumas:
You have a full day of fishing ahead and the Osprey is just the boat to get the job done! This charming model combines a salty appearance with the lines of a New England style fishing boat. The end result being a real eye pleaser that is a pleasure to build. The Osprey is built from die cut poplar plywood, and includes all the drive line hardware and scale detail parts. The instructions are laid out in such a way that the beginner will feel as comfortable as the pro. If this is your first boat or your hundred and first the economically priced Osprey will please modelers young and old.
Length 24-1/2 inches Beam 9-7/8 inches
Power Use Dumas #2021 4.8v electric motor
Running Hardware Included in kit
Here is my modified Dumas 40' Coast Guard. A nice build and a nice looking boat on the water. Dual motors, counter rotating props. Fairly easy build and looks great on the water.
Does this help at all or now even more questions?[:@]

The interior shot looks like a mess. It was when I was installing the deck lights

The Ospry comes with its own hardware kit. Contact Sis at Kactus Model Kits if you want a Dumas kit. She is VERY helpfull and is great. I purchased 2 Donzi's, a Dauntless and a Mister Darby from her. Her prices can't be beat. She sells on e-bay too.

If you whant a scale warship you cant go far wrong with the Revell/matchboc Flower class corette. They regulary turn up on e-bay ready built and if you whant to build it yourself the kits are easily found on there and in most good model shops. A freind of mine got his model up and sailing in 2 weeks. Okay it didnt look 100% accurute but it was a good first model.
