Wilesco African Queen
Its here
Here are som pictures of the wilesco African Queen.
It looks very nice, and the quality of parts is great. Its also packed very well. But unfortunatly, the boiler/engine plate has broken loose, and cracked the nice wooden hull on both sides. If I was a collector, I would be verry unhappy about this and send it back, but since my plan was to modify, and re-paint it all, I does not matter much. Its easily fixed with some glue, and a little fiberglass mat on the inside for extra strength. Im going to build a floor in the boat anyway which will hide the inside repairs.
Otherwise, it looks great
I also bought a few extra Esbit tablets, and some steam oil.

Well, since i planes on repainting it, it doesn`t matter at all.....as long as it isn`t smashed, and ony split, its no problem :-)
Bought it in Germany.

But the brice has bumped up to 419 Euro. I gave 360 euro.

Thanks for posting some pictures of the engine, especially the horizontal one. I picked one up years ago and having no markings on it I've always wondered who made it. Now I know, thanks.

Lagging the boiler will make it look more realistic if that is what you wish to do to it. Overall it isn't a bad looking model. I wonder how heavy it is? How will you operate the rudder, with a piece of bent brass running along the rudder arm and to a hidden servo?

Hey Tug.
It weighs 950g as it is in the pictures below. I need a 4 cell batt, 1 or 2 servos, and an RX + a bit more work.
It says 2000g on the box, but it will never weigh that much.
For steering, you make a prong to hold around the tiller, connected to a servo. Il be making that soon.
Heres how she looks so far, and a video too

Yea, its turning out very nice
Well, running it in my small bathroom amplifies the sound quite a bit
It is pretty smoothe running, but it runs better every time i fire it up. It will run slower and slower at the end of each run without stalling.

Sonny, it is lovely!
You know, it is a shame you must wait until Spring and your frozen land to thaw out before you can run this beautiful model steam boat. So, why don't you send it to me in sunny Southern California and I will perform sea trials for you and send you the video to watch over and over while you are freezing your butt off!!
