Default motor coupling u-joint /flex/solid

i am trying to mate a motor with a 5/16 shaft to a 3/16 prop shaft and need to know the best way to do it and is there anyone that sells them in the size's that i need. what are the advantage/disadvantage of u-joint - flex - solid coupling's. the boat will have reverse.

Flex couplings are not good with reverse. A solid coupling requires 100% perfect alignment. A u-joint can be slightly off center or even a lot off center and still work well. There is one more option, dog bone and couplers.

Your sizes should be normally stocked.
