All depends. Amsterdam is nice, but takes a lot of work to finish nicely, and maybe you won't be happy with the quality of all the fittings. Others, like Caldercraft and Mount Fleet kits, have a TON of top quality fittings which can really make the model an excellent build (and may STILL be a lot of work!).
You don't say what the first tug is...

Hey Rye,
Let us know if you'd like to see some close ups of the fittings if that will help you with your purchasing decision.

Thanks,
Bill

Drool...
Hey Bill, maybe you can bring in a few of those Tyne Models along with a handful of Caldercrafts and a box or two of Mountfleets for about the same price? ;-)

i have a amsterdam tug and its a older kit. lets hope al improved on there kit
and made it a super kit, if not it's a great!!! nice thick hull and some of the nicest
wood i seen in a kit.
brass fittings are top notch the only problems with the boat ihave to date is the
white metal railing is crap buy the robbe rail in brass. and the prop was warped you
could see it when you spun the prop.

my build is on here some where

The Artasania Amsterdam did 2 things for me. Learned to FOLLOW the instructions as written. No jumping ahead. Quality was excellent. 4 nail sander strips took care of all rough edges.
Go for it.
It gave me a Hell of a lot of confidence.

Rich

Engine I used is a large Pittman 12 vdc & large gell cell. BIG Octura 2 blade prop.
