6"? Thats big - what is the model?
Are the motors really mixed via ESCs or just switched differentially? ESCs via a mixer or mixed at the TX are capable of smooth control, switched ones are another story.

the motors are mixed at the transmitter not very well though diagonal down is forward diagonal up is reverse not very easy to do as i can never get both motorsa to go at the same time always one starts before the other the modle is an SRN6 MK6 twin prop see pics below the transmitter has one speing loaded stick the other is a rachet sort of affair ie it goes back and forth in notches

Bad news. Nowhere in my booklet does it even mention a mixer is possible.
You may have the same problem. If that is so. Use the right stick as the controll channels and put a electronic mixer onto the receiver to drive the 2 ESC's.
You can call the USA Futaba service center to verify what I am telling you. Post back if you get a different remidy by them.

Ahh! Airscrews! No wonder they are big. I was thinking of propellers UNDER the hull!
I suppose the clue in in the name....
Daves mixer should do the job for you.

Could it be that the hovercraft is trying to rotate counter to the rotation of the lift fan? Every action having an equal and opposite misunderstanding an all.

RE: twin prop headache
what if you just set up a whole new model in your TX that is defaulted to airplane, and use one stick to power each motor, and, just take out the spring in the rear of the transmitter. Just put one in reverse and one in forward or vice versa when you wanna turn.
just an idea....
