here are a few pictures of a ship I completed some yeears ago (complete with dust).
This is a model of a French Combatane II. It started as a kit but when I was done very little of the original kit remined.
This is model has many operating features including;
searchlight, running lights, fighting lights on the masthead and sternlight
sound effects include horn and battle stations whooper, both are very loud
the mast has two operating radars which turn at differnt speeds owing to a small belt drive
the forward three inch gun fires a black powder charge ignited by a glowplug. The barrel is spring mounted and recoils realistically.
the 4 boxes on the rear deck are exocet missile launchers which fire bottle rockets by radio control.

I also bought the kit and Falcon motors in Europe. I can't say I am pleased with motors, the boat is not fast enough and used up batteries quickly. I threw out the orignal batteries, and haven't run the boat since, they were, I think , 5 amp gel batteries and were too heavy for the boat. If I get to running this one again I will try high capacity nicads. I liked this boat because I saw a lot of opportunity for animation
I didn't use a lot of the kit, As I remember planking this one was not easy. I coated the inside and outside of the hull with fiberglass resin, no cloth. My mast is all soldered brass tubing so I could add the battle lights and operating radars., I think the kit came with "some bizzare thing" for the front of the superstructure that I Ignored. I made the entire floor of the bridge from a plastic grating material and mounted the speaker for the effects under it.
I owe someone a picture of the operating gun mechanism with recoil spring, I will get to it soon.
