HL Turret Removal
Experienced forum members will know this but this is for the newer members (newer than me ), or those who haven't taken a HL turreted tank apart.
If someone has a better idea, please let me know.
The wires from the turret to the upper hull are solid soldered in place, preventing turret removal.
I cut the wires and install .062 pin coneectors.
The thing is, there are two black wires and one red.
I am very electronics challengedbut even I know the two black wires should not be mixed up.
I mark the one black wire with white paint dots.
Then I cut the first black and install a female pin connector on the portion coming from the upper hull and a male on the turret end.
Then I cut the second black wireand install male connector on the portion coming from the upper hull femasle on the turret end.
Now they cannot be reconnected incorrectly.
I finish off with a male connector on the red coming from the upper hull.
I use a piece of 3/32"heat shrink tube to insulate the connection. I cut a piece longer than the assembled connection and slip it over the end on one wire, when the connection is made, it can be slipped over the connectors ans a slight friction fit; it will stay li nplace, don't heat shring it. This insulation method was "borrowed" from the stock HL antenna connection.

RE: HL Turret Removal
I pulled out all the female connector plugs from a fried rx18 board and rewired my turret to unplug also. It's not something you should need to do but, as the English say, "there you have it".
