Tiger 1 Winter, Recoil, EL MOD, New Smoker unit, pics & Video
Hello All,
Here is the latest custom build from RCTW. If you look closely at the pictures you can see how easy it is to install EL MOD. I have lengthen the HL dual 8 pin connector just for the customers convenience but not necessary! Notice it plugs right into the top hull and the other side plugs into the EL MOD board ECO or PRO version, you are done with your turret move, elevation, lights, cannon/airsoft/recoil. 3 connectors on the main board 2 for the motors, 1 for the power. Blaster IV comes with volume knob. Then you plug in the new speaker, 28 different complete tank sounds ready to go for you to choose from.
Here is the list of what this tank has, and then some!
Tiger 1 Asiatam metal hull
Tiger 1 complete top hull Recoil/flash, metal barrel, brass muzzle brake,
5 metal hatches, metal MG
EL MOD ECO Version drive board Easy install version, NO soldering or electrical background needed
EL MOD Blaster 4 sound board with Sony 70 watt speaker
CSI Tamiya compatible IR combat sensors
Asiatam gearbox with Max 400 motors
Asiatam Tiger 1 metal roadwheels
Mato metal upgrade kit
1 5000 mili-amp 7.2 volt NiMH batteries
RDS 8000 8 channel radio & receiver
Charge port and switch’s installed under the hatches
Custom paint job, decals with weathering & combat damage
Super Smoker coming to RCTW in 2011
Here are a few pictures of the build .

Hi Phil,
how in heavens name did you manage to get those motors to fit on the gearbox. Not that much space.
Have the same gearbox for my elephant and the stock motors are underpowered, so I thought of replacing with 400 or 480 motors, but actually gave it up after an short measuring of the space.
seing yours will have to make me do a try
cheers

Hello Steen,
Your measurements where correct, if you look closely at the picture below you can see that one gearbox has been raised up by about an 1/8 of an inch or about 3 mm. I used a standard nuts you can get at your local hardware store to raise up the back of the gearbox just enough to lift the wiring tabs and center shaft over the other gearbox!

thanks Blitz I will give it a try. My Elephant build in Aluminium and lots of metal weights 9.5 kg, so if I can get my 480 motors in there, it would be great.

Your 480's might be longer then the 400's ay? My Promax 400 are the same length as the Heng long stock motors!
Please post your Elefant build here, I know guys would like to see it[sm=shades_smile.gif]

Before this tank shipped, I sprayed on my own decal, by adding the German cross, to the empty side.
I thought some guys might want to give it a try if they don' t have decals.
I did not worry too much about being exact or having all the edges smooth,
as this tank is suppose to have been in the field for a while. The numbers on the side are sprayed on as well,
using a stencil kit, just spray lightly!

Looks great, Phil! A couple of questions:
when you say you added the Mato metal upgrades...what did that include? Looks like you have all of the metal upgrades already from Asiatam!
Out of curiousity, why the late steel roadwheels for an early Tiger (based on the air filters) instead of the early road wheels with rubber tires that Asiatam sells?

???? I don't think he mentioned Mato. His parts list is full of Asiatam stuff.

My only guess is the sprockets, idler and tracks...but given all of the other Asiatam parts, Iwould have expected those to be Asiatam, too.

Oh yea. Mato has been supplying metal versions of just about every Mato plastic part for the tiger. Maybe Phil has used some of these.
I know as soon as the metal upper hull is available I will be springing for one of these.

9th line down on the parts list...right after the Asiatam road wheels

Hello Philipat,
Your are probably correct with the road wheels for this tank, and I was waiting for someone to point that out. When the customer and I started planning this tank those road wheels were not available, and even the last 2 months I have not been able to get them from Asiatam or Welshdragon.
The Mato tracks, sprocket and idlers work great with the Asiatam stuff, you need to do some work on the rear idler wheel but nothing a hobbies cannot do and its works great!
Anything you like about this build?[sm=shades_smile.gif]

Good to know about mixing the Mato and the Asiatam gear.
Didn't mean to give the impression I didn't like the build. It looks and sounds great. Just noticed the road wheels and was wondering about the use of Mato mixed with Asiatam. I also appreciate the heads-up regarding fitting the motors with AT gearboxes. I assumed they would fit easily since you were just able to squeeze them into a PzIII.
How was the AT metal hull? I'm looking at building a Tiger as my next tank and using the metal hull as the foundation.

Hello Philipat,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, still trying to get caught up!
The Asiatam metal hull is very good, it comes with torsion bar suspension, metal shackles, rear tensioners installed and I have a combo deal with the metal road wheels. $ 125.00 for the lower hull alone and $ 195.00 with metal road wheels, add the metal tracks, sprockets and rear idler wheels for $ 260.00 if you buy these three items together.
