Small electric motor performance data
I'm making a device requiring a small electric in the Mabuchi 380 or 540 class. In actuality the motor
I'm using is a Johnson brand of unknown model #. It is a similar type to those found in our 1/16 scale tanks.
To my knowledge it is not a 'modified' type but rather a 'normal' in appearance albeit well made motor.
What I'm looking for is performance data for small motors of the type used in 1/16 scale models. Top rpm
at specific voltages without a load would be ideal. I may not find my particular example but any ball park value
will suffice. I'm attempting to determine the performance after gearing of the mechanism I am building.
What am I building? I'm rebuilding and updating a Jochen Maier 3 -speed tank transmission to have a
gear selector mechanism - you can see the progress on my website on the gearbox section under the heading
"Rebuild and conversion of Maier manual 3-speed transmission".

Thanks for any information.

RE: Small electric motor performance data
From motor dimensions, etc, you might be able to figure out what motor you have and its characteristics using this Johnson Electric motor specs table:

Here is a place to start:
http://www.mabuchi-motor.co.jp/en_US...ct/p_0302.html
Mabuchi has motor curves and data for all their motor types.
Just enter application type (like power tools and home appliances will pull up 540's, hobby will pull 380's)

Where the heck did you get a Maier gear box? Where is the tank it came from. The Maier Panther is actually the very first RC Tank I ever saw on You Tube.
I was looking at vids for PC games and ran across a vid of a Maier Panther. OMFG.
