Tiger 1 6Volt set up
hi guys ,
I just tried my tamiya tiger 1 out for the first time .
well I used a hi capacity 6 volt battery, metal tracks and the tank runs nice and very realistic.
It has plenty of speed if needed but bottom end is nice and smooth at low speeds.
It is definitely better with a 6 volt compared to 7.2 volt power source,
The extra resistance of the metal tracks adds to realizm too.
very happy
will post some pics sooon

What did you use for batteries, was it 5 cells. Great idea less voltage and the amps stays the same. How well does the elevation, rotation and gun operate with less voltage.
Cheers

well all works great yes.
tank runs nice and slow.
used a 5 cell 4300 pack .
runs for a long long time
much better than a 7.2 Volt pack for sure

im not sure how big your tiger is or how much room you have inside it, but if you could fit a power wheels battery in it they are 6volts and have 6ah which would give you incredible run times. best guess would be atleast several hours. the only downside would be an extreme amount of weight.

RE: Tiger 1 6Volt set up
That is too much weight .
A better solution is to run two lets say 4600 maH batteries in parallel this way you get 9200 total and it is still half the weight of the sealed battery .
I am running a 12 lbs tank for over 1 .5 hours and still have power , steel tracks and all .
I also made a y splitter so I can run a single battery for both motors and sound / effects .
cheers

One thing guys, the lower the voltage the more current. More current, more heat to the electronics. The current does the work, the voltage pushes the current.
