HL Pershing w/DBCRC2 firing problem

Hey all,
I've been running a HL Pershing using the DBCRC2 (using an FM radio/receiver) for quite a while now. I've been truly impressed on how little problems I have with it in terms of parts coming off (just one of the return roller outer wheels... which I CA there on the spot and I'm back in action) and it's truly a beast. However, I do have one problem that has been plaguing me with this tank. For some odd reason, it has a tendancy to fire on its own. I've tried lowering the trim tab and recaliberating etc., but once it seems to either warm up or after a couple of battles, I notice it doing this. This can be fatal in battling as I have to wait 9 seconds to reload again plus there always the danger of shooting your comrad while following them down a road etc. Could it possibly be RF generated from the motors perhaps? Or maybe even heat?
I'm just curious if anyone else has ever had this problem. The HL board is an RX-13 I believe but again, the tank runs really good... even in the heat here at DAK!
Thx all,
Dave

Might be heat might be RF interference. Did you ever take notice if anyone was shooting or running close to you when this happens?<div> I would really try a 2.4 Gig radio set. Borrow one if you have too. For about 50.00 bucks the AeroSport 5 is a really nice radio and receiver with 5 channels and analog trims which we need. Hobby People have them and they are made by AirTronics, so you cant go wrong there. I have 2 of these radios now. I used to buy Futaba 75 and 2.4 SkySport radios but the AeroSport is much easier to add firing buttons too. I still have to get the pics up for YHR. I havent forgotten , just busy with another project.</div>

Thanks for the info/advice Panther G.
It doesn't seem to be affected by anyone shooting or running close to me. Even if I'm just tooling around the battlefield in between battles, it will just fire on its own while moving.
I have two other radios (both FM still, but one's a Skysport while the other is a Futaba 27mhz) so I think I'll try switching radios/receivers and see if that helps or not.
I may just invest in a new 2.4 radio as you've suggested as well as one could always use another one in this hobby!
Thx again,
Dave

All I can say is I have not experienced this problem. However a poor ground or possibly low battery could produce the voltage differentional needed to trigger the IR. I noticed when my battery gets low, some strange things start to happen. Firing the IR will cause the DBU to light up, so if low voltage can do this, then I think it could cause the IR to shoot.
Try to notice when it starts happening. If it never happens on a fresh battery, I think the cure might be just a bigger battery to increase your usable run time.

Hi I had a similar thing changed the battery for a larger capacity and also change the radio to 2,4ghz ,Planet 5 are very cheap .now no problems . I think it was mainly the battery, but the radio I was using was also 27mhz and they do interfere with each other am/fm ,if there the same frequncy .YHR is right the battery drop off dose cause some funny things to happen,Dont use the smoke unit they eat batteries for fun.
