Well the old Bulldog is getting a new life as a M42 Duster, here is the start.

Way to go[X(]...looks like you have a good 1;35 as a guide. Lots of work, especially on the guns, but scratch making is half the fun of the large scale tanks.

Ya got my attention with that project!!!!! I really like that M42. I wish you all of the success in the world. I considered doing that conversion, but I just never got arounf to it. I hope you will post WIP photos as you go along......I love it!

Thanks everyone, I think the gun turret is going to be the chalange, I'm going to do it with balsa blocks, alot of curves. will keep you posted.

   How about  strut  no.3&4 eliminating?  I guess that the 1:35 model has correct suspension hence we could see from it.

I believe the new SLU unit has the capability to operate 2 guns simultaneously That would help with recoil and battery of the guns. Futaba i think now has an adapter for one of their servos to make it a linear action. This would greatly simplify the recoil. I believe they are intended for micro size servos which is even better. I think Tower Hobbies has the servo adapter listed. It has been some time since i saw it so i may or may not be mistaken by the maker of it, but there is definitely one available.

Give me a run down of what you mean.

I think I saw a vidio on how a guy made a motor that kept hitting a key stud that made the recoil go several times back and forth, hope I can do something like that.

That is what I am attempting to tell you. The SLU has the ability to operate 2 servos at the same time in a sequence that would cycle 2 gun barrels back and forth as a real dual barreled gun would do.<div> The servo adapter that i explained takes a servo and replaces the rotating gear assembly for the arm and replaces that with a mechanism that has a slide that goes back and forth in a straight line motion.</div><div>this could be hooked up to the gun barrels to cycle the recoil action.</div><div> This is what I understood the description of the SLU to be able to do. If I am mistaken maybe Fireman Tim could explain, but I believe this is correct.</div><div>The SLU is a new stand alone system to run the tanks, like the HL RX18 or an El-Mod system. I dont know how you could operate the gun with just standard HL elctronics in that manner. I dont think it would be possible unless you could isolate the recoil of the RX 18 and use 2 of them at the same time.</div>

I have the SLU( two of them), I'll look in my manual and check that out, That would be great if Ican. It would have to be kinda slow cause those Bofors dident shoot real fast as you know.

I feel your pain..........but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, a rainbow will appear, birds will sing, and we will all rejoice at your finished project. I am going through the same kind of thing on my own current #$@$ project. You are not alone. What you have done so far looks good to me.

I have a question........How in the heck is all of the R/C gear that you are thinking about gonna fit into that Bulldog to make everything work?? I am really interested to find out. Sources for miniaturized R/C gear mostly. I have an old servo that is the size of a pack of cigarettes.........are there smaller ones available these days? [sm=confused.gif]

Mini and micro servos will be plenty strong enough for recoil. They are about .5 inches X .75" X .75 " so they are pretty small. With the linear servo adapters I doubt that they will be able to cycle very fast so scale speed of the recoil should be pretty close.<div>The fact that you have the SLU's already helps out greatly as you already have some knowledge of how they operate.</div><div>Like I said , as it was described to me, the SLU should have the ability to do the mod.</div><div>I am looking forward to see how it all works out as I am still trying to decide on the SLU for some projects I have currently.</div><div>One thing I am waiting for is the new sound options that are supposed to be planned, and some user opinions on the SLU. </div>

Wow.......I never noticed that before! I wonder why there aren't any shock absorbers (struts) on those road wheels. That seems very strange.

They had a bad Tech Supply Officer, Still waiting for there request. I can say this because thats what I was.

OBTW: Fathers day came early for me take a look.

All of the wheels also have torsion bar suspensions. The struts support the tank body and dampen the springs. Same concept as the struts in a car.
