borealis,
You may want to include the army song " The Cassions Go Rolling Along " All US armor in Europe was Army while in the Pacific, it was mostly Marines. That way we can match the rebirth song to the correct tank. By the way, I think it is a fabulous addition to RC tanking. Thats so much for youtr hard work.

Very cool Andrea,
Great work, another system to try out, this does look promising. Now if you can get the holder for the IBU molded that would be the icing on the cake.
Keep up the good work!

As with the elmode, will you be offering a way to make adjustments to how the tank may run turn stop using the many styles of gear systems available such as Asiatam's 321, tamiya gears, plastic gears etc. by offering the use of a configuration cable and the configurator. Also what will the maximum voltage usage and what type of weight will it be able to handle. will it run well with weight and the use of metal tracks? Your system sounds very well thought out and it will bring more excitement into this hobby, and I am looking forward to seeing this happen. It will definitely bring a lot more tanks to the battle field that were unable to battle each other. Thanks for your hard work all involved.

A complete system, el-mod syle is a huge project to develop, as you can imagine. Challenging as well as expensive in terms of investiment.
A Tamiya compatible battle system with some nice additional features, as the I.B.U., might be the first step, though, towards such project.
Much will be determined by how the I.B.U. will be appreciated by RC tankers worldwide.

I really like the idea of a functioning repair vehicle. On the Allied side, this system could work with a M32 or M74 Sherman, (or even the M26 crane that Fynsdad built). I've never been much interested in building a Sherman-based recovery/repair vehicle; but this new system has certainly got me to thinking about it. -Mike

So as to my original question is there answer? ? @Chiefsonn: the IBU has been tailored to stock gearboxes, therefore with 3:1 you will gain more torque at a reduced speed (exactly the same way you do with a stock Heng Long tank).
NO configurator is foreseen at the moment since there is no dynamic profile to manage.
The maximum voltage usage, when connected to an RX18, should be kept at 7.2V, since the power supply is driven to the RX18 without voltage reduction.
In standalone applications it is possible to work with higher voltages, up to 9.6V, but 7.2V is the recommended one.
The maximum weight it should handle is the same of an RX18, therefore with 3:1 gearboxes it will run fine with metal tracks and so.

RE: Introducing the Italian Battle Unit (I.B.U.)...New videos
The Italian Battle Unit final release is under production and shipment (for orders send an email to ivano.bretti<at>alice.it).
The board layout has been improved, the led flasher mini-board now has a round shape, the upcoming minefield simulator connector has been introduced and now the board takes control of the Heng Long barrel recoil and it possible to shoot by just giving a short push forward of the left stick.
The I.B.U. will activate the heng long stock barrel for as much as needed to complete one cycle, and then lock it until the reload time has expired.
To obtain this a small modification of the 8 wire cable is needed in order to connect the barrel control cable (yellow cable) to the recoil plug on the board (instructions and additional connector seupplied).
Here a couple of pictures of the final board (with a composition of all parts supplied) and a detail of the new flasher:

The Flasher plate can be screwed (or fixed using double-sided tape) upon the Heng Long BU without need to solder or anything: you re-use one of the top screws of the BU (this is detailed in the manual).
The original BU still plugs into the normal turret connector, while the flasher has its own wire to be plugged into the I.B.U.
This way (this is the older version of the flasher, now it's circular):
UPDATE **: please find the new manual 1.2 attached

Wow, this is a very nice add-on/upgrade to the RC tank battle scenario. I am looking forward to seeing the information on using land mines...

I like the mine field idea. When that add on is ready I would like to get two units to try out.

I have updated the manual to version 1.2 to solve some consistency issues with a Heng Long cable (sometimes it is assembled with inverted polarity)

Hi again
I have had some time to review what has been talked about here and I need a little clarification,
THis system only works with HL electonics and transmitter?
This system relies on the RX18 for sound with respect to the engine?
Do you expereince any of the RX 18 whine with this system.?
Thanks
Dan

Also older RX13-14 can be adapted (just need the plugs) and airsoft tanks can be quickly converted to Tamiya compatible IR using an HL IR kit and an IBU. Fire can be also be triggered by a pushbutton, manually or controlled through a servo.
The engine sound is the RX18 one, mixed inside the IBU with the battle sounds (just one speaker needed).
The whine in my newest RX18 (V7 release) is almost gone. It can be hardly heard when pushing the stick slightly forward, just before the tank moves.
Anyway, if it whines without, will whine with the IBU connected (everything coming out of the RX18 will pass through the IBU).
