Hi Airbrushler,
Just saw your Panzer III. I guess that is Dunklegelb over Schwartsgrau, quite common after February '43 when the colors changed
from thedark gray. It might look more interesting after the approprate markings are on it. I sure wouln't tolerate the lousy condition
you recieved your tank in. I would have demanded a refund and sent it back, even with the return shipping,Thanks for the warning.
I love the Panzer III and have several of them including the Tauchpanzer III H. There are lots of aftermarket goodies and lots of of
conversions that can be done with a little research. Have fun and keep us posted. modelbob

I know nothing of track vehicles in war
but have worked around cats and track back hoes alot
have never seen rust on tracks on a vehicle that is working
only when they are out of operation

Hi, nice P3.<div>I have to agree with Tap on this one! Re Tracks mate! Apparently, I read that rusty tracks on a Tank like this would have likely got you shot! Lol! But I wasn't there of course!</div><div>I did the same with a P IV, and received the same comment! so I repainted them, the quality of the German steel alloy was of such a good grade they didn't attract rust when in use.</div><div>Hope you don't mind the comment?</div><div>Keep up the good work</div><div>Triton</div>

Hi Tap
Don't know if it was stainless but it was a steel alloy of some kind! Read an article on it I'll try and find it to verify!
It was hi grade! I'll get back to you on it
Best regards

Hi
I know you do very very nice work, and I'm new to 1\16th tanks. I appreciate constructive comments too! I would not like to offend anyone, just sharing what I was told! hope you don't mind?
Tap asked if the tracks were stainless, but the info I received was that it was a very high quality steel alloy and not prone to rusting!
Trying to find the article I read but it was on another forum.
Best regards

Ah, thats a nice one! The only thing I don't like about my Tauchpanzer H is the lumpy bits on the side of the turret.. makes number marking impossible / impractical :\

not wanting to make folks edgy either
but high quality aloy steel is just steel, with out chrome and nickel
thats what it takes to eliminate rust .
And it wouldn't make much difference in preformance, the geman tanks were
dominant one on one any way, just saying rust on the battle feild was , in Nam , from inactivity.
probably true 20 some years earlier also.

Hey there<div>It would appear that my info on the tracks comment about the quality of steel on the P3 is a little inaccurate, for that my apologies!</div><div>Apparently, on the P3 tracks every third link\pad was of higher quality! information came from Achtung Panzer website!</div><div>Cannot guarantee the reliability of this information tho.</div><div>Stu </div><div>

I'm headed out of here
but, I have no idea of the aloys used in WWII,
but Germany was hard pressed in manufacturing what they needed.
I'm sure some one here will provide an answer.
good night

Thank you for that Tap
don't worry about making anyone edgy! Lol! Healthy debate is no bad thing! It's all in the interest of the hobby.
I probably misread the thread!... As you pointed out, they only start to degrade when not in use over a period of time!
My Dad was in North Africa, Royal Army Service Corps, attached to the British Eighth Army,He was a Seargent and his job was the recovery of AVF's and the crews for repatriation regardless of nationality, He once told me the tracks on the Panzer were much better than the Allied armour.
Best regards

Airbrusler,
If thoses are metal tracks, you could do a vinegar soak and gun bluing. Turns out a very convincing dirty used metal color. I did it on my PZ IV and it came out great ( will try and post some pics )
Your PZ III looks great in the camo.
